Order Deadline Time Change


Beginning May 1, all orders must be placed with Foodlink no later than 8:00 am three (3) business days in advance of delivery. We are changing the order submission deadline from 12:00 pm to 8:00 am on the same day, three (3) business days in advance of delivery. Order deadlines and delivery days may be impacted by Foodlink holidays and closures throughout the year.

Agency Express Offline

June 17th - June 28th


Starting on June 17th at 8:00am, Agency Express will be offline for Foodlink to complete our annual physical inventory and system maintenance. All orders for delivery from June 20th through July 8th will need to be placed in advance prior to 8:00 am on June 17th. Agency Express will be back online at 8:00 am on June 28th for orders with delivery days starting on July 8th.


Rochester Deaf Kitchen


Rochester Deaf Kitchen recently celebrated hitting a milestone; distributing 100,000 pounds of food! See the video honoring the wonderful work they do for their community.

Upcoming Level 1 (L1) Food Manager Training


L1 and L2 trainings are intended for members that prepare meals for guests.

The trainings are not necessary for members that just store and distribute food, e.g. food pantries. For further information about member food safety training requirements, please review Foodlink's Food Safety Training Policy.


Foodlink offers the National Restaurant Association’s ServSafe Food Manager training course and certification exam. This is a national certification and is valid for five years.

The 12-hour course (including exam) is held over 2 days (6 hours/day). Students must receive a 70% or higher on the exam to become certified. Upon request, reasonable accommodation can be made for students who require assistance with the training and/or exam.


Next training: June 3rd & 5th, 11am - 5pm on both days at Foodlink

USDA Apples

Apples will periodically be available as we begin to test putting fresh produce on the shopping list. There will be an "available for delivery through" date in the description. Any orders placed for delivery after that date will be rejected from the order.

Creamy Apple Slaw

This is a super easy, fast recipe that is perfect as we head into the warmer weather and gear up for picnics and cookouts.


Apple slaw is a fresh, delicious side dish that goes particularly well with a grilled meat, as well as white fish or pork. Check out the numerous meat, fish, and poultry options currently available on the shopping list that can pair up well with this recipe.


Ingredients



Dressing

½ cup mayonnaise

2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar (or white vinegar)

1 tablespoon sugar

1 tablespoon mustard (preferably grainy mustard)

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon celery seed (optional)

½ teaspoon black pepper


Slaw

4 cups cabbage shredded

2 apples cored julienned (or shredded)

1 cup carrots shredded

Instructions

  1. Combine dressing ingredients in a small bowl and set aside.
  2. Toss with slaw ingredients
  3. Allow to sit for at least 1 hour before serving
