Did you Know...
Foot Fungus can live in your shoes?
If you are currently being treated for nail fungus it is a good idea to spray your shoes with an anti-fungal spray before wearing them again.  You don't want to treat the nail and then continue to re-infect your foot with your shoes.  We are currently carrying Clarus Antimicrobial Shoe Shield that is used to kill bacteria and fungus to prevent
re-infection and neutralize odor.

The Nail Spa at FAC

Do you have lots of holiday parties to go to and don't have the time to keep getting your nails re-done?  If so, then getting a gel manicure may be the answer for you.  Gel polish is a special kind of polish that stays shiny on your nails without chipping or fading for up to 2 weeks.   Try getting a little sparkle on the tips or on your fourth nail for a little pizzazz.

Call 425-0668 to schedule your appointment today because holiday appointments will go quickly!

Orthotics...Who needs them?

An orthotic is a device designed to restore your natural foot function.  Many biomechanical (walking) complaints such as heel pain, knee pain, and lower back pain are caused by poor foot function.  Orthotics re-align the foot and ankle bones to their neutral position, thereby restoring natural foot function.

Dr. Cohen can cast you for custom-made orthotics that are designed for you and no one else; they match the contour of your feet precisely and are designed for the way you move.  Only prescription orthotics can accommodate your unique foot structure.  Custom orthotics are used to treat several different ailments including plantar fasciitis (heel pain), bursitis, tendinitis, diabetic foot ulcers, and foot, ankle, and knee pain.

If orthotics are needed our office will take a 3 dimensional plaster cast of your feet.  The cast is used to create a set of unique foot supports that will improve your foot movement and lead to more comfort and mobility.

There are two categories of prescription orthotics.  Functional orthotics are designed to control abnormal motion and may be used to treat foot pain caused by abnormal motion; they can also be used to treat injuries such as shin splints or tendinitis.  There are usually made from a semi-rigid material such as plastic or graphite.  Accommodative orthotics are softer and meant to provide additional cushioning and support.  They can be used to treat diabetic foot ulcers, painful calluses on the bottom of the foot, and other uncomfortable conditions.

If you are unsure as to whether orthotics are beneficial for you feel free to call our office to schedule an appointment.  We also carry a medical grade of over the counter orthotics that can provide superior support and cushioning to most other brands you'll find in the stores so be sure and check with us before buying an over-the-counter insert.
