On January 20, 1970, for one showing only, a spectacular “fight", concocted by a Miami promoter,Murray Woroner, occurred on film! Woroner said, “If computers could put a man on the moon, why couldn’t they predict the outcome of a match between two unbeaten champions….from different eras! They created a script of different fight scenarios that Ali and Marciano were paid to reinact in a film studio in North Miami. The film was edited and shown in theaters across the world. The outcome was kept a closely guarded secret…even to the fighters! Major bets were placed as if the two great boxers had really contended for the championship! While at the filming stage, Ali and Marciano threw real punches. The outcome was revealed …. Ali won in one and Marciano in another. The Ali/Marciano bus tour never happened however, since on August 31, 1970, Marciano got on a Cessna plane in Chicago and crashed in a corn field in Iowa. Here is a very vintage J.C.Higgins glove singed on the front in full name: "Muhammad Ali AKA Cassius Clay” and under that, “Rocky Marciano”.
