Updates and Ideas from and for the Indie Northwest

Post Show Bonuses
Reimbursements Available

We started off the show by giving away money to lucky attendees who happened to sit upon a golden ticket envelope when they settled in for the opening event. We now wrap things up by offering our members travel reimbursements for their efforts in getting to Tacoma.

The Money for Miles program is back, and we've added an "emergency' wrinkle this time around. PNBA negotiated a package deal to pay for your parking charges at the Hotel Murano. For many of you, that charge was not moved from your room bill to the association's master bill. But we've got you!

The mileage credit form now contains a box for you to note the number of nights you were charged parking during your stay as a registered guest at the hotel.

Money for Miles

Miles traveled (one way):
50 - 100 = $25; 100 - 150 = $50; 50 - 200 = $75
200 - 250 = $100; 250 - 300 = $125; 300+ = $150
Parking credit: $11 per night

Stores sending 1-3 attendees are eligible for a single Money for Miles grant. Stores sending 4+ attendees are eligible for a maximum of two. Parking reimbursements are available on a one car, per room, per night formula.

Reimbursement requests must be received by Nov. 1.
Home Court Buzz Win!
Tacoma's Blue Cactus Takes the Prize

Where Rivers Change Direction by L. Bundrock, published by Tacoma's Blue Cactus Press, was selected as this year's BuzzBooks contest winner by booksellers and librarians on the show floor.

The Blue Cactus pitch: Tana, a white woman, falls in love with Colette Little Crow. Her coming out as a late-blooming Gay woman is messy, painful, and full of fumbles. Tana’s love with Collette ultimately cleaves her heart in two and she must decide whether to piece it back together in Montana, her home, or cross geographic and cultural divides to start over in Seattle.

Winners of the $100 participant prizes:
Christine Longmuir, Two Rivers Books, Portland, OR
Anne Brangwin, North Central WA Libraries, Wenatchee, WA
Erin Chervenock, Village Books, Bellingham, WA
The Latest on the ABA Front

Good Stacks
After calculating the votes, ABA is excited to introduce Stacks, its brand new bookstore cat mascot! The name nomination came courtesy of PNBA's own James Crossley, manager of Seattle's Madison Books, in teamwork with his daughter.

Stacks is pleased to walk you through ABA's “Good books come to those who shop early” Fall Marketing assets.
