Our South American Adventure!
|
|
In August, we visited the Galapagos, Amazon, Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu and Lima
|
|
Our group of 10 began our fabulous journey in Quito, Ecuador (with Otovalo and Cotacachi) and continued with a Celebrity Cruise on the Xploration, visiting many unique islands. The ship was all ours and we were treated like royalty by Captain Natalie and her crew of 11. Fernando made us marvelous drinks every evening as we reminisced about our daily adventures. Our chef, Jonathan delighted us with 3 fabulous meals every day. Gustavo, our Naturalist was unbelievable and a true expert on this fabulous area guiding us in observation of giant land tortoises, marine iguana, Galapagos hawks, Blue Footed Boobies, Frigate birds, penguins, sea lions and other creatures indigenous to these mystical islands.

Eight of us continued with 15 new friends on our Gate 1’s Ecuador’s Amazon, Peru and Machu Picchu. Experiencing the rain forest with monkey’s swinging from trees and lush tropical foliage was a real treat! The Sacred Valley and Cuzco brought new tasting opportunities (guinea pig, alpaca and llama) as well as wonderful artistic crafts to purchase. The magical thrill of Machu Picchu cannot be described. We ended in the Miraflores section of Lima, a truly gorgeous place to visit.
