THE CONVERSATION CONTINUES.

Task Force and Steering Committee members are wearing their "Ask Me About the Block" pins every Sunday. Find one, and ask away — your questions and ideas are wanted.

VOICES FROM THE BLOCK

Over the past several weeks, we've shared the vision. We've walked through the history. We've introduced the ministries that make this block come alive every day of the week.

This week, we want to do something simpler: let you hear from the people whose daily lives are most directly shaped by whatever decision comes next. Because behind every design scenario, every cost estimate, and every architect's drawing — there are people. People who work here. People who make music here. People who love this building and want to see it serve this parish well for generations to come.

”PLEASE TELL PEOPLE I CAN'T WORK IN MY OFFICE”

This spring, volunteers and staff led parishioner tours of Egleston. At the Tuesday staff meeting that followed, Simon asked how the tours had gone. The response from one staff member was simple and direct:

"Please tell people that I can't work in my office."

That was April. By May, staff were relocated out of Egleston due to water damage — temporarily displaced from the building they have called their professional home, the place where they have built relationships, done the work of this parish, and served this community day after day.

This is a real, immediate, and physical challenge — and it is a reminder of how much the people of this parish depend on this block, and how much this block depends on our care and stewardship.

The staff of All Saints' have given themselves wholeheartedly to the ministry of this place. Whatever path is chosen, the goal is the same: a home where they can do that work together, with the dignity and support they deserve.

”A SPACE WE HAVE TO ASK ATLANTA'S

FINEST MUSICIANS TO FORGIVE”

All Saints' music program is, by any measure, one of the finest in Atlanta. World-class musicians, a program of extraordinary depth and breadth, a choir that has called this parish home for generations.

And for years, they have made that glorious music in a basement — a testament to the talent and dedication that no building could contain or diminish.

It is joked that we have to ask Atlanta's finest musicians to forgive the current choir suite in Egleston's basement. But perhaps the truer statement is this: the music program has thrived here not because of the space, but in spite of its current condition. The structural challenges the building has faced — shifted doors, cracked ceilings, compromised walls — have touched the choir suite too.

The vision before us asks: what could this program become with a home designed around it? Every scenario under consideration takes that question seriously — honoring the music that has always been one of All Saints' greatest gifts to this city, and asking how we can give it an even stronger foundation for the next hundred years.

WHAT THESE STORIES TELL US

Staff temporarily displaced. Musicians who have achieved remarkable things in imperfect conditions. A building that has served this parish faithfully — and that now calls us to serve it in return, with the same care and intentionality it has always deserved.

The range of scenarios the Task Force is evaluating each responds to these realities differently. But all of them start from the same place: the people who work, worship, serve, and make music on this block deserve a home worthy of everything they give to this community.

YOUR QUESTIONS, ANSWERED.

Where are the staff now?

Following the water damage in May, staff were temporarily relocated from Egleston. They are continuing their work in the interim — and the Task Force is acutely aware that a long-term solution is needed.

Is the music program at risk during this process?

The music program is not at risk — it is central to the vision. Every scenario under consideration takes seriously the need for a strong, dedicated home for the music ministry. The question is what form that home will take.

How long will staff be out of Egleston?

Staff will remain in temporary arrangements until a design path is chosen and work is complete. The urgency of their situation is not lost on the Task Force, and it is part of what is driving the timeline forward.

How are staff voices included in this process?

Staff have participated directly in listening sessions with Perkins & Will. Their daily experience of this building — and their hopes for what comes next — is part of what the architects are designing around.

WHAT THE TIMELINE LOOKS LIKE

The Egleston Task Force is working toward a recommendation this summer. An announcement is expected in late summer. Every development will be shared with you as it happens.
