Beautiful New Chalice & Paten dedicated in Memory of Richard Thalleen

This past Sunday, Fr. Donavan blessed a new, beautiful sterling silver chalice and paten, given to All Saints in memory of Richard Thalleen, who passed away on December 31st of last year.  The new chalice and paten were generously given by anonymous donors who greatly loved and appreciated Richard's many years of dedication and service to our parish and to the Church.

Just over the past seven years that Fr. Donavan has been our Rector, Richard helped found and served in the Verger's Guild at All Saints, and he served as a Shepherd, a Reader, a Lay Eucharistic Minister, a Vestry member, a member and volunteer for the Men of All Saints (MOAS), and an Outreach Volunteer, among many other roles! Just before his passing, Richard had just finished completing license training through the Diocese of Florida to become a Lay Catechist & Worship Leader.  In February of this year, Fr. Donavan gave Richard posthumously the 2019 John Riley Service Award for all the many years of service, love, and dedication Richard Thalleen gave to All Saints.

Richard's son and current Vestry member, Marc Thalleen, along with his mother Sandi Thalleen were at All Saints this past Sunday morning at the 8am service (Richard & Sandi's regularly attended worship service) for the blessing and dedication. As Fr. Donavan said at both services on Sunday, Richard would be very pleased and honored to know that a chalice and paten to be used for the Blessed Sacrament at All Saints for ages to come has been given in loving memory of his service to the church and his unfailing discipleship to Jesus Christ.

'Wonderful Wednesdays' with C.R.E.W. for 6th-8th graders has RETURNED!

The All Saints CREW kids, in grades 6 - 8, are invited to come and gather for a safe, socially distanced, & fun EVERY WEDNESDAY from 6-7pm

We are only gathering in the Parish Hall or outside in the courtyard until further notice.  Everyone's temperatures will be taken outside the Parish Hall door before entering and parents are asked to follow the CDC guidelines regarding child/youth assessment.  Youth will not be asked to wear a mask the entire time, however, they do need to bring one for any "quiet conversation" time during our time together. The same rule applies to all adults, as well. And whenever we are closer than 6 feet, the mask will be worn at all times. Individual snacks will be given. Youth will need to bring their own water bottle.

Our number one concern is being mindful about everyone's safety while still being able to allow the youth to gather and receive Christ-centered lessons in positive and fun ways! With all the many things going on in our world, in our country, and in everyone's hearts and minds, our hope is to facilitate a safe space that will allow our youth to get nourishment from activities, discussions, prayer and from being with each other.

If you are interested in your middle school youth attending CREW, don't hesitate to contact Hillary Citrano with any questions or concerns. Please RSVP Hillary HERE.
Parents of our already signed up CREW KIDZ be on the lookout for an email with more details.

May we all come together safely and lovingly as disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Junior Chorister Program returning this month! Sign up TODAY!

Does your son or daughter enjoy singing? Are they creative or interested in making music?  All Saints is welcoming new participants, as well as returning choristers, to the Junior Chorister Program! The Junior program, for youth ages 6-10, follows the Royal School of Church Music Voice for Life Choir Training Program and will meet following 10 or 10:30am worship service on Sundays.

Young people learn how to sing properly, how to develop their best voice, as well as gain lots of confidence in themselves!  Christian Education and learning how to work together in a group is an essential part of being a chorister, and the environment is always supportive and enriching! Those who complete the program receive medals appropriate to their level.

If you wish to speak with former or current families who have participated or have questions for Michael, contact him at mmastronicola@asejax.org or all (904) 402-6480.  The Voice for Life Program is fantastic for ANY young person and learning to make music and use one's voice is rewarding for our emotional and intellectual health.  Please consider a young person in your life who is creative and interested in singing for this program!

WORSHIP THIS SUNDAY
in the Church at 8 & 10am
or online LIVE at 10am

All Saints is now open for Holy Eucharist inside the church on Sunday mornings at 8AM AND 10AM.
And EVERYONE still has the opportunity to worship TOGETHER every Sunday at 10am through Live Streaming on the All Saints YouTube Channel.

For all services inside the church, All Saints continues to limit seating availability, to keep hand sanitizing stations in place at the main entrance and at the southside handicap-accessible entrance to the church, to make available full text bulletins to avoid use of Prayer Books, to provide music from the choir loft only, to keep offering plates stationary at each entrance, to allow the main entrance doors to the church to be open at all times, and to require masks. We also request that, other than immediate family, everyone maintain proper social distancing with their neighbors inside the church and on the church campus. Holy Communion is offered each Sunday in one kind (bread), and the clergy are working hard to ensure that communion is given safely to those who want to receive it. Finally, the church is wiped down between the two services every Sunday.

Please remember, if you are over 65 or in anyway sick, or if you are immunocompromised by a long-term illness or medication, YOU SHOULD STAY HOME ON SUNDAYS AT THIS TIME AND WORSHIP ONLINE.

One way or the other, either in person wearing a mask or "virtually" through the computer screen,
we hope you will worship and pray with us
this Sunday at All Saints!

Additional Music for Church returning in limited phases throughout September

As many of you have certainly noticed, even while the church was closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, through the dedicated work of our Director of Music, Dr. Michael Mastronicola, we have found creative ways to keep music in all of our online and live worship services! Because of the natural distancing we have always had at All Saints with our organ and choral music area located in the church loft, this has been able to be accomplished with the utmost safety for everyone. Just recently, in order to better broadcast our musical offerings online on Sundays, we installed a special microphone in the loft, which now greatly enhances music in our live streaming!

On August 30th, All Saints' talented, college-aged Choral Scholars returned to their places in the choir loft.  UNF graduate student, Noelani Brown, and Jacksonville University students, Jade Perry, Zyan Busby, along with the talented voice we've been blessed with hearing this past summer, Cyriac Adjevi, have formed an incredible quartet providing choral music, hymns, and psalmody at the 10am Holy Eucharist.  They are the first limited phase of the restoration of more music opportunities coming to All Saints this Fall. All of these singers in this first phase are wearing special, 'singing' face coverings at all times and all of their rehearsals have been limited to 30 minutes in the larger, open spaces of the Parish Hall and the Choir Loft only.

There are additional phases coming, if all goes well and numbers in Jacksonville continue to stay under 10 percent of testing.  Options for our young, Senior Choristers to sing on Sunday mornings and the return of a newly revised, socially distanced BELL CHOIR is next in the phasing process!

All Saints has been blessed with deep, meaningful, worship-enhancing music for generations, and we should all be very thankful for Michael Mastronicola and our music ministry scholars and volunteers for working so hard to keep All Saints' Music Program alive and well in the midst of this unexpected global health pandemic!

THANK YOU, MICHAEL and THANK YOU ALL SAINTS SINGERS & MUSICIANS!

Wednesday Holy Eucharist for those OVER 65 or Immunocompromised is back!

Because people over the age of 65 and people who are immunocompromised have the greatest chance of contracting COVID-19, All Saints is offering a worship service with more space for social distancing for those people only. This special Holy Eucharist is now every Wednesday at 9:30am!

We hope this special Eucharist provides the safest possible option for All Saints parishioners who are not yet comfortable coming to church on Sunday, but would still like the opportunity to receive Holy Communion from a priest with gloves and a mask. All rules and guidelines for Sunday's still apply to anyone who comes inside the church, but we hope this will make that even easier and provide more space for sitting inside the church at a wider, safer distance from others. If you have more questions, simply call the church or email Fr. Donavan here.

Weekly Bible Study every Wednesday after the
9:30 Holy Eucharist!

So many of our Thursday Bible Study attendees have been looking for a way to continue the chance to read and discuss the Bible safely in these uncertain times. With the reopening of the church for worship services, Fr. Donavan and Deacon Mark are now connecting our regular Thursday Bible Study to the Wednesday morning Holy Eucharist service for those over 65 and with immunocompromised conditions. This is allowing those who come into the church for Wednesday worship to STAY in their seats immediately after the service for the Bible Study.

Fr. Donavan & Deacon Mark kicked off this new Wednesday Bible Study on Wednesday, August 12th, at 10:15am with a return to the Gospel of John, so please plan on bringing your Bible with you to the church this Wednesday to join the discussion!  And if you know someone who might not be receiving the newsletter, please pass along the good news so they can join in the Bible Study, as well!

SOUP READY TO SERVE!
All Saints is Helping Those in Need

During these weeks of trying to stay home, All Saints Meals Ministry will be shifting from casseroles to soups, and storing up a supply of frozen soups that can be dropped off on the doorsteps of someone who is sick or in need! If you are feeling ill and need a container of homemade soup, just call the church office and leave a message or email Hillary Citrano or Lisa Alexander, and let them know. To keep safe, someone will drive the soup to your home and leave it at your front door.

UCOM has continued and actually grown their Meals on Wheels ministry for those who are elderly and/or homebound. Contact Mtr. Lisa to find out how you or someone you care about can get on the Meals On Wheels schedule during these trying days for so many older folks.
