A Message Concerning
Continued Changes & Concern over Coronavirus

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all consolation, who consoles us in all our  affliction, so that we may be able to console those who are in any affliction...
                                                    II Corinthians 1:3-4

This past Saturday, Fr. Donavan sent out a message to the parish concerning the church and the continued spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). As the number of cases continues to rise across the nation, All Saints has been staying in close communication with both the Diocese of Florida and with local and state health care advisories.  Just this afternoon, Bishop John Howard released a letter to the Diocese giving further direction to how our churches should proceed in the coming weeks.

Following the Bishop's directives and continuing to work to ensure that worship in our church is as safe as possible during this time of widespread fear and concern, the following additional decisions have been made for worship beginning this Sunday, March 15th:

-  Following today's direction by the  Bishop of Florida ,  the
"use of the common cup (either by clergy or laity) is
now temporarily discontinued ." The celebrant will use
a chalice of wine  at  the  altar,  but only the consecrated
bread will be  offered at the  communion  rail.

-  During the Offering collection on Sundays, baskets  that
remove the need for  anyone in the pews to touch
or  pass will now be used .  If  you hold up an offering
envelope   or a check, the  ushers  will be able to
extend  the basket to you for the  collection. You can
   also  give  online   here .

-  In order to protect those who are homebound due to
age or sickness, we will discontinue our Shepherd's
Ministry & Eucharistic Visitors for the time being. If you
have an emergency and need a visit from the clergy,
you can  contact the church office and one of the clergy
will set  up a visit ASAP.

Fr. Donavan and your Vestry will be meeting for their annual Spring Vestry Retreat this weekend, and this concern will be a very important topic in their discussion and planning. Please be on the lookout for future emails concerning this issue, and if you have not had a chance to read Fr. Donavan's original letter, you can do so now here

Let us continue to trust in God and to pray constantly for the sick, the dying, and for those who are working hard to fend off and find a vaccine for this virus.

New Adult Christian Formation Class for Lent continues THIS SUNDAY

A new adult class for Lent, entitled, Ascending Benedict's Twelve Steps of Humility, continues   THIS SUNDAY, at 9:30am in the Parish Hall.  Throughout the Sundays of the season of Lent, Fr. Donavan will be leading us through the twelve steps of humility found in Chapter 7 of the 6th century Rule of St. Benedict. The class will focus on the central important action of humility for being both a monk and a  Christian, following, as St. Benedict says, the ladder of ascent, leading the Christian towards the "exaltation of heaven."

St. Benedict does a great job instilling his Rule with passages from throughout the Bible, and he includes Holy Scripture in each step towards humility. Join Fr. Donavan for the Sundays in Lent as he breaks down each  passage and each of the twelve steps to discuss the continued need for humility in our lives today as Christians.

Outreach Opportunity:
UCOM is in need of
Food Donations!
Our local food pantry which serves struggling families in our community is in need of food donations! UCOM feeds 1800 people each month and in 2019, All Saints donated 3710.2 pounds of food. We are UCOM's third highest food contributor of the churches in the '07!

The beginning of the year is always a hard time for food pantries.  UCOM is in need of breakfast items, peanut butter, rice, beans, canned foods, and soup!  You can help by bringing these items to All Saints any Sunday and dropping them in the bin at the entrance to the church. You can also drop them off in the church office during the work week and our dedicated Outreach Saints, Rick & Renae Johnston, will stop by and make sure they get to the Food Pantry at UCOM.

Practicing Silence inside the Church during this
Season of Lent

The season of Lent in the Church is a time to dig deeper into your weekly practice of prayer, reflection, fasting, and repentance as a disciple of Jesus Christ. This always begins and ends with worship and thanksgiving to God our Creator on Sunday morning.

To better prepare yourself for spiritual worship with God, everyone should take a moment of quiet prayer and silence upon entering the church and before departing, especially during Lent. At All Saints, music is not offered before or after our worship on Sundays to help us all observe the Lenten silence and to encourage everyone to focus on WHO we are in the presence of every time we enter into the House of God.

With this in mind,  PLEASE use this Lenten Season at All Saints as a time to be SILENT when you come into the church for worship. Smiles and "hellos" to your brothers and sisters in faith are appropriate, but please hold off on conversations until the dismissal is given and we gather after church in the Parish Hall for breakfast or coffee hour. This is the right spiritual practice for ourselves every Sunday, and it is also the right practice for others around us who enter to pray and prepare themselves for worship.

At All Saints this Lenten season, let's all practice silence inside the church, to focus on God, to offer our prayers to Jesus Christ, and to open our ears to the breath of the Holy Spirit.
