Dear Faculty and Staff,

The administration and the Task Force are working on a plan for a safe, phased reopening, based on what is permissible for Institutes of Higher Education in the Capital District Region. The latest information on Maria’s response can always be found on the Covid Information website below.

Phase II ‘Soft Opening’ for Faculty and Staff
Beginning Wednesday, June 10 th , Maria College’s campus will be accessible for faculty and staff to provide for limited business functions that are allowable in this phase. This phase does not include student interactions and educational services – those activities continue to be restricted at this time by New York State. Phase II allows for administrative and business functions to happen on-site, if certain health and safety protocols are met.

This guidance applies to Maria faculty and staff and is the first step towards bringing work functions back on campus. Employees who are able to work from home are still encouraged to do so as much as is appropriate. Employees who are ill, experiencing unexplained symptoms, or have had contact with Covid-19 cases in the past 14 days are asked not to come to campus and, if you haven’t already, advised to see a medical professional.

Process for Accessing Campus

1.      Have a discussion with your manager about your intention and access to campus

  • Managers will observe the 50% space capacity restriction
  • The procedure for accessing campus will no longer involve SLT approval for each instance

2.     Take your temperature each day you wish to access campus and fill out the online health screening each day

  • The web form for faculty and staff is located online (click link to access)
  • Essential Visitors will also be asked to complete a form prior to accessing campus
  • Both forms are posted on the Maria College homepage
  • For those who cannot take their temperature at home, No-touch Thermometers will be located at the security desk in the main building

3.     Observe all postings and safety & health precautions during your time on campus

  • Buildings will have primary access doors secured by card swipe (keys will no longer work for building access)
  • Please wear a mask when in public places
  • Observe social distancing
  • Observe room capacity restrictions (max 50% capacity)
  • Use hand sanitizer throughout the day, especially before and after touching public surfaces or shared equipment

This ‘soft opening’ is seen as a first step in allowing employees to come back to campus . As we begin this program, there will be lessons learned and adjustments made. Please watch your email for further guidance, and thank you for your patience as we work through this. Please be sure to convey any concerns or comments to the Covid task force and your direct supervisor.
