Updates and Application Rules

The Bermuda Health Council wishes to advise the public that the Health Council has notified the medical and dental community, and health insurers of upcoming updates to the Medical and Dental Charges Schedule (the Schedule), effective as outlined below.

Summary of Changes

The attached memorandum provides full details on the following updates:

Changes	Effective Date
Updated chargeable amounts for Anaesthesia, Surgery, Medicine/Evaluation & Management, Obstetrics, and Dentistry	1 June 2026
Addition of new medicine codes to the Medicine/Evaluation & Management tabs	Immediately upon publication
Updated definitions to the Application Rules	Immediately upon publication
Adoption of CPT code 99027 (Physician Standby / On-Call Services) within the MDCO schedule to support the Emergency & Complex Surgical Coverage (ECSC) Programme	1 June 2026

Regulated Charges and Recommended Charges (link)

These legislated medical and dental charges are only applicable to and enforceable for procedures performed in the hospital setting by registered medical and dental practitioners not employed by the hospital. These procedures are not required to be covered by all health insurance policies but where a policy does include coverage for them, practitioners are required to charge insurers in accordance with the legislated charges and insurers are required to reimburse the same.
