Capital Community College Partners with Eversource Energy and IBEW Locals 420 and 457 on a New Lineworker Certificate Program 
 
Hartford, CT., March 17, 2021 – Capital Community College announces a new educational partnership with Eversource Energy and The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Locals 420 and 457. The Eversource Lineworker Certificate Program is an 11-week course developed to prepare individuals for a career as a Lineworker.
 
“Capital is thrilled about our new partnership with Eversource. We are committed to providing all of our students access to a wide range of educational and training opportunities that will prepare them for well-paying, in-demand jobs. Eversource’s Lineworker Certificate Program aligns perfectly with that mission,” said Capital’s CEO Dr. G. Duncan Harris.   
 
Classes begin on June 1 and are held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and six select Saturdays. Classes will be a blended approach of virtual instructor-led training and in-person, hands-on training at the Eversource outdoor training complex. Upon successful completion of the program graduates will be eligible to apply for entry-level Line Helper positions.
 
“This partnership demonstrates Eversource’s commitment to securing highly-skilled, local workers to build a safe and reliable electric system,” said Don Boudreau, Vice President of Electric Field Operations in Connecticut. “There continues to be a need for qualified workers. Eversource’s Lineworker Certificate Program in Connecticut will help meet the need for skilled Lineworkers who are trained and understand the technologies that integrate with service for residential, commercial, and industrial customers.”
 
The application deadline for the program is March 31. Tuition is $2,400 plus the cost of the required Fire Retardant (FR) clothing and boots. Specialized payment arrangements are available for those in need and scholarships may be available for qualified applicants.
