Kim Newman is the Black female leader the tech industry didn’t know they needed.
BAY AREA, CA — Kim Newman came to the Transformations of the Human (ToftH) in October of 2020 to help design and oversee the launch of the ToftH School: a seven month one of a kind experimental curriculum that brings together philosophy, art, and technology in a single practice we call PArT.

Kim –– mom of two (humans) and three (dogs) –– has a history of connecting technology, the arts, education, and research. She has co-founded startups, worked as senior administrator in top universities, and as business executive for top 50 Forbes companies. Kim’s belief in the power of ideas, her commitment to building educational institutions, and her belief in the world-changing potential of technology sustains her optimism that combining philosophical research, art, and product development can ensure a more prosperous and sustainable future for all.
“I am motivated and intrigued by the idea of a curriculum that enrolls students in planetary thinking. A major failing of today’s education institutions is separating the arts from the sciences and engineering. If we are to become planetary, we have to overcome these separations. ToftH does just that: it is one big experiment in bringing together fields like philosophy, AI, biogeochemistry and art in a single framework. ”
— Kim Newman
