Macomb County Prosecutor Seeks Applicants for Communications Director Post, Applications

Due Sunday, April 13, 2024 at 11:59 pm

Mount Clemens, MI – If you’ve been demanding more transparency, here's your opportunity to deliver it. The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office is accepting applications for its Communications Director position, a role credited with helping transform the office into one of the most transparent prosecutor’s offices in Michigan.

The position, which offers a salary range of $85,183 to $110,177, is open through 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, April 13. Candidates can apply online:

The vacancy follows the planned departure of former Communications Director, Dawn Fraylick, who stepped down last week after three years to pursue a private-sector opportunity in the aerospace industry.

Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido established the Communications Director role in 2022 after it was approved by the Macomb County Commission. The goal was to improve transparency and restore public trust. Fraylick was the first to serve in the role.

“The Communications Director position was a key part of my plan to bring this office into the modern era,” Lucido said. “Transparency with tax dollars is not optional — the public deserves to know how their tax dollars are used to deliver justice.”

During her tenure, Fraylick oversaw a range of public outreach efforts that included issuing more than 500 press releases, launching AI-generated multilingual videos to aid crime victims, and helping produce the public television show --Need to Know with Peter J. Lucido. She also led efforts to enhance the office’s social media presence and managed its transition to a new countywide website platform. The former director’s accomplishments also included supporting public outreach programs like “Stopping Crimes Against Macomb Seniors” and the “Knocking Violence Out of My School” student video competition.

Lucido said he is looking for a communications professional who can continue the office’s upward trajectory and build on the reforms implemented over the last four years.

“Macomb County taxpayers deserve clear, timely and accurate information about how we are working to keep them safe,” Lucido said. “Information is one of the most effective tools we have in the fight against crime.”

Despite a nationwide shortage of assistant prosecutors, the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office — which employs 140 full-time staff — currently has no unfilled prosecutor positions. Lucido attributed the office’s stability to a strong professional culture.

“When talented professionals see others doing meaningful work with integrity, they want to be part of that,” Lucido said.

In contrast, Macomb County government overall currently has 192 vacant full-time positions, according to a December 2024 report from the Finance Department.

“Our office has built something that works — a team committed to justice and transparency,” Lucido said. “Now we’re looking for someone ready to take on the next chapter in that mission.”
