Peoria Park District Announces Plans
for 2022 Earth Day Celebration
PEORIA (April 21, 2022) – Peoria Park District is gearing up for its most important holiday event every year- Earth Day! Although the Peoria Park District believes that ‘Earth Day is every day,’ the national holiday celebrated each year in April provides the opportunity for the local community to renew its commitment to environmental stewardship.

"What would the ultimate birthday party for Mother Earth look like? We think it would look exactly like the Earth Day Festival at Forest Park Nature Center," states Susie Ingram, Program Coordinator at Forest Park Nature Center. "This year on April 23, organizations from across central Illinois will come together to share their ideas, products, and programs all focused on making our community a more sustainable, enjoyable place to live."

Attendees of the event, which runs from 11am to 4pm on April 23 at Forest Park Nature Center, will learn about conservation through the lens of bio-facts from our friends at Peoria Zoo, go on free guided hikes with Forest Park’s biologists, relax with some local food and coffee, peruse dozens of informational and vendor booths, create sustainable art with Peoria PlayHouse Children’s Museum, and explore the process of producing maple syrup with Camp Wokanda. We think pancakes made with local syrup will make a perfect post-Earth Day breakfast!

In addition to the activities on April 23, the Peoria Park District will celebrate Earth Day with activities that incorporate volunteering, education, and celebration across its locations and on social media. To learn more, please visit www.peoriaparks.org.
