Mount Clemens, MI - Today, a Macomb County jury convicted 56-year-old Anthony Mangiapane of ethnic intimidation and two other charges after a three-day jury trial by Hate Crime Unit Chief Kumar Palepu.

On Monday, July 25, 2022, Anthony Mangiapane was at his business in Warren when the victim walked by on the sidewalk.  Mangiapane yelled racial slurs and fired shots at the victim.  The victim immediately called 911 and Warren Police responded in three minutes to two separate locations, meeting the victim and going to the business where they encountered Mangiapane.  Mangiapane refused to come outside of the building. Police quickly noticed a rifle casing on the ground directly in front of the building.  After testing, the forensic lab concluded that the shell casing matched a rifle in the building that belonged to Mangiapane.

Anthony Mangiapane was found guilty of Assault with a Deadly Weapon (four year felony), Ethnic Intimidation (two year felony), Felony Firearm (two year mandatory felony). Mangiapane is scheduled to be sentenced on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at 9:00 am by Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Edward Servitto.
