Shallan Paige Hazlewood was raised in Flossmoor, Illinois and attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas where she received a BA in Journalism. From 1996 to 2005, she owned and operated Soapstone, a luxury home goods boutique in Chicago.
Shallan currently lives in Indianapolis, with her husband and three children.
In 2022 she opened Lunch Money Boutique, an upscale children’s clothing store, which was selected as one of Indy’s best shops.
Shallan was introduced to horses at a young age by her uncle Bruce, and she credits him for her love of equestrian sports. He and Jack Wetzel also introduced her to Aiken, with their guidance she became captivated by its beauty, history, and tradition.
Between raising her family and running her retail business, Shallan has also dedicated time to various non-profit organizations in Dallas, Chicago, and Indianapolis.
Upon accepting her invitation to the Board, Shallan remarked:
I am proud to represent the Duchossois family on the Board and I am eager to support and promote the Foundation's mission while honoring Bruce's legacy.
Foundation Board President Jack Wetzel recognized the significance of adding a member of the next generation of Duchossois to the Aiken Horse Park Foundation leadership:
I am thrilled to have Shallan join our board. Bruce and I cherished our time spent with her. The energy and perspective of our new generation of leaders like her will fuel the advancement of our Foundation for many years to come.
