(Esther 4) The story of Esther is a story of God’s love for God's people; God worked in the life of Esther for the good of God’s people in Israel.
This story tells of how God puts Esther and us into positions and situations for God’s purpose. For Esther, the words of her cousin Mordecai urged her to act so that God could use her to rescue the Jewish people.
We have a choice to work within God’s plan. Mordecai reminded his cousin that if she refused to act, “relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish.” The Lord had divinely placed Esther in a royal position: but she had to choose to obey.
God knew you before you were formed. He put you where you are for such a time as this. It is time for all of us to speak truth to power and back it up with actions. Can you live the rest of your life without doing what God has called you to do now? Trust in the Lord, God will use you regardless of what you think of your abilities. God has a plan for all of your abilities; God has a plan for all of our abilities together.
This is a time and place that God has prepared each of us for. We each have things we can do for God’s plan. You may think that nothing you can say or do will impact what is going on in the world, but we all have God's support and plan behind what we say and do. But you have to say and do it. God will use what you say and do. That is why God created you and prepared all of us for our current situation.
· Do it by volunteering at something you can do.
· Do it by speaking truth to power.
· Do it through constant prayer.
· Do it in your way.
· DO IT!

- To “text to give” in the future, the donor will go back to that text trail and just simply text the give amount “ex. 10, 50, 100” (the donation will default to general fund) or text “options” and the system will prompt the donor with more giving options.

Free Music Concert featuring Marvin Matthews, recording artist.
2025 W. 11th St., Houston, TX 77008
Resurrection MCC - Activities Building
Feb 8, 2025 | 7 PM
Light Bites Served
Admission: Free
(A love offering will be collected during the event.)
Marvin Matthews has ministered in some of the finest churches in America; he has toured Korea, Japan, and all of Europe; and he has led praise and worship at various conferences including M.O.P.S. (Mothers of Pre-Schoolers), the Ohio Christian Educators Association, J & J Music Conferences for music industry professionals, The National Children’s Pastors Conference, the Southern Baptist Conservatives Convention, the Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Atlanta, and Sydney, and many other national and international gatherings.
Marvin has appeared on many television programs, including Cornerstone in Pittsburgh, Daystar in Dallas -Fort Worth, and “The Hour of Power” with Dr. Robert Schuler. Bill and Gloria Gaither have featured Marvin on several of their “Gaither Homecoming” shows.
A tireless concert artist, Marvin has performed with Debby Boone, Andrae Crouch, Mark Lowry, Little Richard, Karen Wheaton, Deniece Williams, CeCe Winans, and the late Bob Hope. He has been featured on most major Christian networks, including The Word Network, TBN, and CBN.
His exuberant personality combined with his unique vocal talent and compassionate spirit crosses all bridges. He’s a natural, whether on a concert stage performing with a symphony or standing in front of a church congregation. His enthusiasm envelops the listener.
Marvin desires to affect change and provide a place of joy where hopelessness has prevailed. To paraphrase the lyrics of his hallmark song, “His Eye Is on the Sparrow”, Marvin “sings because he’s happy and he sings because he’s free.”
God vigorously uses Marvin’s musical talent, but much more, God uses Marvin’s heart—a heart that has developed in this contemporary gospel artist over the years. The only thing greater than Marvin’s voice is his love for Jesus, his family, and the body of Christ to whom he ministers.

God Talk: Conversations About Faith, Society and
Self-Love with LBGTQ+ Christians
Weekly Thursdays 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm CST
“God Talk” is another way of saying ‘Theology’, in other words: how we think and talk about Divine Presence. Many LGBTQ+ people have been hurt by oppressive or toxic theology, the kind of messaging that describes God as condemning and cruel. These wide-spread messages are often subtle, perhaps from well-meaning sources, so we don’t even realize how we internalized them. The trauma can run deep! No wonder so many people have difficulty developing a relationship with the Sacred.
Resurrection MCC strives to build community to heal those wounds. This group is a safe haven to explore, question and discover how God works in and through us, regardless of who we are or the societal labels we carry. We will discuss our imaginings of the Divine in our lives and hear from people whose partnering with God brings meaning and hope into their lives. We seek to reframe our thinking and expand our imagination to move into a broader understanding of the God of Love.
