405(d) Aligning Health Care Industry Security Approaches
Through this new website, the 405(d) Program supports the motto that Cyber Safety is Patient Safety and provides the Healthcare and Public Health (HPH) sector with useful, impactful, and vetted resources, products, videos, and tools that help raise awareness and provide cybersecurity practices, which drive behavioral change and move toward consistency in mitigating the most relevant cybersecurity threats to the sector.

“The new 405(d) Program website is a step forward for HHS to help build cybersecurity resiliency across the Healthcare and Public Health Sector. This is also an exciting moment for the HHS Office of the Chief Information Officer in our ongoing partnership with industry,” said Christopher Bollerer, HHS Acting Chief Information Security Officer.

Five enforcement actions hold healthcare providers accountable for HIPAA Right of Access

The Office for Civil Rights (OCR) at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced the resolution of five investigations in its Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Right of Access Initiative, bringing the total number of these enforcement actions to twenty-five since the initiative began. OCR created this initiative to support individuals' right to timely access their health records at a reasonable cost under the HIPAA Privacy Rule.

HHS Seeks Public Comments to Advance Equity and Reduce Disparities in Organ Transplantation, Improve Life-Saving Donations, and Dialysis Facility Quality of Care

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a Request for Information (RFI) to solicit stakeholder and public feedback that will be used to inform potential changes and future rulemaking to improve the organ transplantation system and seek to enhance the quality of life of those living with organ failure. CMS is focused on identifying potential system-wide improvements that would increase organ donations, improve transplants, enhance the quality of care in dialysis facilities, increase access to dialysis services, and advance equity in organ donation and transplantation.

Biden-Harris Administration Announces Steps to Protect Consumers and Improve Ground Ambulance Billing Practices Through No Surprises Act Implementation

The Biden-Harris Administration unveiled details about the establishment of a new federal advisory committee, the Ground Ambulance and Patient Billing (GAPB) Advisory Committee. As mandated through the No Surprises Act, the GAPB Advisory Committee will be charged with providing recommendations to the Secretaries of Health and Human Services (HHS), Labor, and Treasury on ways to protect consumers from exorbitant charges and balance billing when using ground ambulance services.

OMH invites nominations of qualified candidates to serve as primary and alternate delegates for the Center for Indigenous Innovation and Health Equity Tribal Advisory Committee (CIIHE TAC). The CIIHE supports education, service and policy development, and research related to advancing sustainable solutions to address health disparities and advance health equity among American Indian/Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander populations.

FEEDBACK NEEDED: WG18 Benefit Coverage Identification Task Group to Assess Time Needed to Verify Patient Pharmacy and Medical Benefits

Industry Feedback Needed by Friday, December 10th 
NCPDP’s WG18 Benefit Coverage Identification Task Group needs your help to understand the resources and time required to verify pharmacy benefits and medical drug benefits for a patient. NCPDP is soliciting feedback from provider groups, pharmacies, hub service providers and other organizations to evaluate the amount of time necessary to perform the benefit verification process, beginning when all the necessary information from the prescriber and patient has been received.

NCPDP is asking for your support by completing and sharing this survey with others inside and outside of your organization to ensure they receive more actionable data.
