DID YOU KNOW?
  • Sacramento is surrounded by six amazing Wine Regions including Lodi, Clarksburg/Yolo, El Dorado, Amador, Placer and Sierra with more than 250 wineries, vineyards and tasting rooms. These wineries produce approximately 80% of the grapes used in Napa and Sonoma wineries. California as a whole produces 90% of the wine produced in the United States.
  • Lodi was awarded Best Wine Region of the World by Wine Enthusiasts in 2015 and presents 125 varietals from 750 growers that grower over 110,000 acres of wine grapes.
  • Clarksburg is just minutes away and is home to Bogle winery and the Old Sugar Mill which offers 16 wineries all in one fantastic setting.
  • Known as the Farm to Fork Capitol of America, Sacramento boasts the Regions best local fresh gourmet food delivered daily to area restaurants.
  • The Sacramento River Train is a scenic and fun trip for all with 14 miles of private tracks along the beautiful Sacramento River. Enjoy dinner, social wine or beer tasting event, or even a show on the train.
  • The Region produces top quality Olive Oils, Almonds and Honey too.
  • Wine and Olive Oil tastings in the Region bring a very high quality of flavors without the crowds and offers lower prices than other California Wine and Food Regions.
  • The California State Capitol building (above) is magnificent architecturally and quite interesting to tour.
  • The Crocker Art Museum (below) in the heart of Sacramento is the longest continually-operating museum in the West and hosts one of the State's premier collections with pieces dating from the Gold Rush to modern day art.

How to protect your personal data when you're away from home
  • Avoid accessing any personal or financial information while using Wi-Fi in an airport. "If it can wait, don't do it in the airport," says David Cowen, managing director, US Cybersecurity services at KPMG. "Someone can be looking at your screen behind you." Wait until you are in a private place — at home — to pay that bill online or check your balance in any online account. "Wi-Fi in the airport is much more dangerous than using a USB port in the airport," Cowen says. Use a charged battery pack, or an electrical outlet to charge your phone or other devices.
  • Use a mobile security gadget if you plug into airport USB ports. Consider using a gadget that can be purchased for $10–$13, designed to protect your data from theft, Henderson says. Among those sold are Juice Jack Defender and SyncStop, experts say.
  • Use a virtual private network (VPN) from a company you trust. "It takes all of the information you're sending off to the internet and encrypts it," Cowen says.
  • Set up a personal hotspot on your phone. Check to be sure your mobile provider provides a plan, and that you have added it, if necessary, to your mobile plan. All the data will be encrypted, Cowen says. Encrypting data means making it undecipherable when it is moving from one place to another on the internet.
