Attendees enjoyed the hospitality of Gold sponsor host Miele. Michael James Brahamsha, showroom manager, welcomed the crowd and encouraged everyone to say hello to Miele staff, look around at the appliances, and sign up for cooking classes. A grand time was had socializing and networking, sipping on wine and sodas, enjoying French onion soup and hors d’oeuvres prepared by Chefs Vicki Robb and Tamara, followed by espresso over ice cream and freshly baked chocolate chip cookies—all made with Miele appliances!
Jared Costa, Director of National Sales and Training, picked the raffle prize winner. The Miele Triflex HX1 cordless vacuum went to new member Ahmed Ahmed who joined the chapter during our membership drive. We want to express our gratitude to Miele for their gracious gift, making this raffle possible and adding excitement to our event.
Thank you to our hosts Michael, Jared, Fred, and Chef Vicki for a wonderful evening!

LOVE IS IN THE AIR
. . , but forget the traditional hearts and flowers, because February shifts our focus toward the imminent 2024 NKBA | KBIS Las Vegas event.
We kicked-off the new year with a bang at the well-attended chapter meeting at Miele's showroom in the A&D building. Miele's executive chef knocked it out of the park.
The transfer of leadership transpired seamlessly as the gavel changed hands, and our newly elected officers were duly sworn-in. In recognition of our outgoing president's two years of dedicated service, a thoughtful accolade from our members was presented. 2023 events were encapsulated in a year-in-review video streaming in the background, highlighting last year's events. If you didn’t see the video, watch it below.
| | |
Despite the brevity of February, even with an additional day this Leap Year, our calendar is packed with significant engagements preceding KBIS. Please refer to the upper left corner of our newsletter calendar for comprehensive details and schedule your participation accordingly.
Anticipate an enlightening February Chapter Meeting hosted by Häfele, where the latest trends in LED lighting will be unveiled. Furthermore, attendees can expect a special Valentine's Day treat. Miele is hosting an informative Ventilation CEU special event, and our esteemed sister organizations IDS and IFDA are organizing noteworthy events this month. Read more below.

Jeannine Price, NKBA-Manhattan Membership Chair, is 2023 IDS Swatched Champ (Again)!
By Diana Mosher -- Known for her collaborative spirit in the Kitchen and Bath luxury marketplace, Jeannine Price is a sought-after consultant. As the Membership Chair for the NKBA Manhattan Chapter, she actively participates in industry organizations such as NKBA, IDS, and ASID, embodying the principles of excellence and community engagement.
Jeannine has been twice recognized as the champion of IDS Swatched, an event that blends design with philanthropy. Swatched, founded by the IDS Long Island Chapter, is an interior design game where participants race against the clock to create a unique design from the ground up based upon a specific design challenge prompt. "Participants are tasked with producing a mood board as well as visual representation (digital rendering, hand drawing, etc.) that a panel of judges will evaluate. Participants must also incorporate mystery items provided by IDS sponsors and supporters," according to IDS.
Jeannine took top honors at IDS Swatched 2018, showcasing her talent and innovative approach to design. Returning to the competition in 2023, she claimed the runner-up position with a "Mad Men" inspired design that captivated the audience. "Crafting a mystery design concept in just an hour—a fun experience with the added joy of supporting multiple charities," says Jeannine.
Hailing from Eastern Long Island, NY, Jeannine brings over two decades of luxury marketplace sales expertise, solidifying her status as a trailblazer in the field. Her artistic journey began early with guidance from her grandfather, Salvator Gagliardo, who led her through painting lessons, theater design, murals, and graphic art. Following interior design school, Jeannine focused primarily on kitchen and bath design in the Hamptons and Miami Beach. Jeannine's career took a turn in the mid-1990s when she accepted a role in finance. While in the midst of a highly successful career in private banking, Jeannine returned to the design world, and she founded Red Barn Design Works nearly two decades ago.
Nestled in Eastern Long Island, Jeannine cherishes moments with family and friends. Her enduring passion for animals, coupled with the genuine joy she finds in adopting and caring for various pets, is reflected in her heartfelt efforts to foster senior dogs.

VENTILATION CEU EVENT
Miele Experience Center
Ventilation design comes in many styles—from wall-mounted to island hoods to built-in cabinetry units to ceiling extractors and downdrafts disappearing into countertops. Whether classic or modern, it is an eye-catching centerpiece to your kitchen or it seamlessly blends in for an unobstructed view. But not every vent option can be installed interchangeably with your design and the appliances it needs to work in conjunction.
Done incorrectly, it can ruin a look and be very costly to fix; understanding what works and what doesn't is a crucial aspect of the design concept. Done correctly, you avoid costly overruns or returns or, worse, structural modifications. Ventilation is not the sexiest of kitchen design topics, but if understood, it can avoid the dark hole of backpedaling on your design vision.
Please RSVP for this CEU special event to newyorkcenter@mieleusa.com.
