Dear Equity Yacht Members on our fixed (timber) docks,

Over the past few months, we have been working with local contractors specifically in regard to the boat lifts in our Marina. It will be required that we remove all lifts for the demolition and construction of our new docks and we have coordinated the following elements of work to make the process as streamlined and cost effective as possible for our Members:

  • Project costs will include the removal of all lifts and lift pilings as well as the installation of all new lift-ready pilings as part of the construction.

  • Nelson Marine is available as our partner to provide options to our Members as follows:
  • Re-installation of lifts that meet the Contractor's criteria ($8,650 - $10,450) excludes motors, cables and control box
  • Installation of new lifts in the following weigh capacities:
  • 27k (Estimated $20,000)
  • 40k (Estimated $36,000)
  • 54k (Estimated $40,000)

We have asked Nelson to provide us with additional descriptions of work for each of the options above to specifically state what is included with this option. We are working simultaneously to start gathering information from our Members so that we can move swiftly once we have all of the details from Nelson.

Here are some of the details that we have available so far:
  • Our engineer has recommended against re-installation of lifts installed prior to 2018.
  • Nelson Marine will not re-install a lift that was installed prior to 2015.
  • Re-installation will be at the discretion of the Contractor, and we have requested additional details on what this service will entail. The Club will make space available for storage for lifts handled by Nelson Marine.
  • Members may work with the vendor of their choice; these Club-coordinated options are being made available for the convenience of our Members.
  • For new installations, we will be publishing additional information to include technical specifications of the lifts that Nelson is recommending, but the lift should be "boat & operationally ready" once installed besides customizations.
  • For Members who elect to participate in the options above, the Club will coordinate work and billing as a component of the project, with the goal of expeditious completion.
  • So that we can continue planning, we encourage all Members to provide us with their preliminary interest by completing the survey below.

In terms of a general update on project progress, things have been moving swiftly behind the scenes. The final pilings from the floating docks were removed. Project drawings for all areas are in final review, and we anticipate filing for permits with Collier County before the end of the month. Our emergency permit which was issued in October has been extended to allow for any demolition efforts.

We anticipate that Nelson Marine could begin work in 3-4 weeks, and will start with demolition or disassembly of lifts. Members who still have vessels in the Marina should have their plan in place to transition to another location on minimal notice once the Contractor mobilizes.

Please be on the look out for additional information as we receive it from our partners in the project. In the meantime we are available to answer questions or provide clarification.
