St. Joseph HS Graduate Embraces a Variety of Roles

Jim LaPietra, St. Joseph High School Class of 2007, has been a stage performer going on 15 years but, at the present, he’s not looking to go professional. 

“I do it because I love it. If I’m doing it for money, then I’m doing it for the wrong reason.”

Jim recently played a lead role as Reverend Hale in the North Riverside Players production of “The Crucible,” by Arthur Miller. Although he received great praise for his performance, Jim prefers other types of roles.

SJHS Sports Hall of Fame Nominations
The Alumni Association is now accepting nominations for the SJHS Sports Hall of Fame. Nominees must meet the following criteria:

  1. are graduates or coaches (present & former) of St. Joseph High School;
  2. graduated at least 10 years prior to their induction;
  3. achieved high levels of success in their respective sports, including at least one of the following:
  • Most Valuable Player
  • All-Conference honors
  • All-Area honors
  • All-State honors
  • All-American honors

Nominations submitted to the Alumni Association must include as much information as possible on the athletic accomplishments of the nominee while at SJHS as well as the name and contact information on the person nominating the athlete. Submit your nomination to  Alumni Association  or via US Post at the school address c/o Gene Pingatore.

Nominations will be accepted through Friday, December 14 th . The Hall of Fame Induction takes place before the varsity basketball game on Friday, February 1, 2019 in the north gym.

Father Rob Schultz (St. Joseph Class of 1991) wants to be an inspiration. He also wants to fix the leaky roofs and foundation at St. Beatrice Parish in Schiller Park, where he has been pastor since 2009.

So when Schultz, 45, signed up for his 100th triathlon, Glenview Park District’s 17th annual Sprint Triathlon Aug. 5, he decided to use the occasion to raise money for the parish.

Each month, Yorktown Center will spotlight a group of stores (see list below) restaurants and fitness studios for which receipts will be accepted.

After shopping and dining, your school’s family and friends can show their Yorktown Center receipts for each month’s spotlight retailers at the Mall Management Office (located on the Upper Level near Forever 21) to accumulate points.

You must specify that you are with ST. JOSEPH HIGH SCHOOL so that the points are allocated to the Chargers. For every dollar spent at Yorktown Center’s spotlight stores, SJHS will receive one point!
On April 30, 2019, 10 monetary prizes ( a total of $20,000! ) will be awarded to participating schools based on the schools’ total points.
