Ford Motor Factory
Milestone In Industrial History
The Ford Motor Factory, located at 7 th and Santa Fe is Los Angeles, was completed in 1914 to manufacture Ford Model T automobiles.  The poured-concrete and block building was the second Ford Motor plant to be built west of the Mississippi and has become one the most iconic buildings in downtown Los Ang eles.  The building was originally designed by the  architecture firm of Parkinson & Bergstrom, a dominant architectural firm for major Los Angeles structures in the early 20th century.  A  milestone in industrial history, the complex served as Ford Motor Company's primary Southern California assembly operations for Model T's and Model A's until a new factory was opened in Long Beach in 1929.  Many companies have since occupied the site including U.S. Rubber, Lockheed Aircraft and from 1972 to 2005 was the headquarters for the Imperial Toy Company.  The building is currently being redeveloped into a creative campus with ground floor retail space that will make extensive use of recycled materials and the distinctive elements of the property such as the steel framed windows and skylights.  For more information on this project  Click Here!

Consulting
Hotel Figueroa
Los Angeles, CA

Built in 1925, Hotel Figueroa was the first hotel to be completely financed, owned and operated by women in the United States. The YWCA hired Architecture firm Stanton, Reed, & Hibbard to design and build the hotel.  The Spanish Colonial style of the hotel pays tribute to the city's Spanish and Mexican heritage. Defining features include the elaborate coffered ceiling, sculpture columns, wrought iron finishes and ornate floor tiles.
