Forecast calling for healthy finances and responsible spending
Council received the town's long-term financial roadmap on Monday night, supporting Council's commitment to make strategic investments in building and renewing community infrastructure, while keeping Oakville's finances healthy and stable.

The 2018-2027 forecast totals $1.25 billion and includes the $129.1 million in spending for 2018 previously approved by Council on December 18, 2017.

"Establishing a responsible and sustainable long-term spending plan allows the town to continue providing citizens with important programs and services, plan for future growth and keep facilities and infrastructure assets in a state of good repair," said Mayor Rob Burton.

Transportation Master Plan update

Council approved the 2018 review of Switching Gears, the town's Transportation Master Plan, which sets community transportation priorities until 2031. It looks at all modes of transportation including public transit, walking, cycling and ride-sharing along with roadway improvements to ensure the safe, convenient and efficient movement of people and goods.
New development charges by-law

To ensure Oakville continues to recover a significant share of costs associated with growth-related services and infrastructure, Council approved the Development Charges (DC) Background Study and a new  by-law that allows the town to continue collecting fees from developers to help fund growth at a manageable pace in the years ahead.
