Come See the Spring Play April 7 & 8

By: Abby Wirtjes and Morgan Pardoe

Forest City High School presents The Crucible as the 2017 spring play.  The play is set in the colonial times.  It is a fictional version of the Salem Witch Trials, in which people were wrongly accused of witchcraft and taken to court without any evidence of crime.  Eventually, most of the accused were declared unjustly guilty and were executed.  Over 20 of the accused were killed, hung or crushed to death.

There are 29 cast members. The directors are Mr. Sarasio Meyer and Mr. Sparrgrove. Mr. Sarasio Meyer expressed, “I am excited about the storyline, social commentary, working with the kids, and is interested to see how the community reacts to the play. The Crucible is originally written in the 50’s when there was hysteria based on inaccurate facts that all who were unjustly accused of witchcraft were guilty. The Crucible is a requirement for all Juniors and Seniors to read by the State of Iowa.

FCHS is excited to present the dramatic and exciting play to the public.  Come support these hardworking student and teachers who have worked hard to produce a great act.

Meet Ms. Osterman!

Ms. Osterman cites the following as her favorite first-year teaching experiences. First, she enjoyed her first homecoming as a teacher.  She enjoyed the atmosphere at FCHS, the dress up days, and getting to know the students through the homecoming activities. Secondly, Ms. Osterman cited that she has truly enjoyed watching her students grow academically throughout the year and getting to know the student’s academic and activity/athletic preferences.

In her free time away from school, Ms. Osterman enjoys cooking.  One of her favorite recipes is Five Cheese Jumbo Shells.  She also enjoys reading novels from J.K. Rowling (Harry Potter) and Nicholas Sparks (The Notebook).  It also goes without saying, that Ms. Osterman is a huge supporter of the Cyclones and enjoys attending events or watching them on the television whenever possible.
