Dear Forest Hills Families,

 Wow!! We have four weeks of school behind us and we have so much to celebrate! Our staff, students and families have been amazing and continue to impress me with their optimism, creativity, perseverance, and support of one another. While we are still working out some technology bugs, learning new ways to meet everyone’s needs, and seeking support to make this experience as effective as possible for each member of our school community, we deem the start of school a success! I continue to be grateful for the support and compassion you continue to provide us as we navigate our way through this new time of teaching and learning. Please consider joining me tomorrow to hear updates, ask questions, and glean clarification about the school year, COVID-19 safety protocols, and school procedures at Coffee with the Principal Zoom meeting.

COVID Decision Tree

Please know that we follow the MDH guidelines for dealing with COVID cases related to school. This decision tree is how we monitor and evaluate each time we have a student or staff member who may be exhibiting symptoms or has been in close contact with a positive case. The first time we respond to a confirmed positive case we will inform the Forest Hills school community and outline the process and how we work closely with the Minnesota Department of Health. After that, any confirmed positive case will be dealt with the same consistent level of care and attention to detail but communication will only be with those involved and close to the situation. We understand that these are challenging times and we are aiming to provide the safest possible experience for our staff and students as they continue their learning journey this school year.

When should I quarantine?
According to the Minnesota Department of Health, any student or school employee who is a close contact to a confirmed case of COVID-19 needs to stay home, quarantined, for a minimum of 14 days. The 14-day quarantine is regardless of test results, and includes those who have received a negative COVID-19 test result. This length of time is required due to the incubation period of the virus. Someone who tests negative early in the 14-day period could develop illness later in the 14-day period.

Arrival and Dismissal

Thank you for your patience as we refine the drop-off and pick-up procedures. As you may know, with the Hybrid model, many more parents are transporting their children resulting in more traffic and increased congestion. Some considerations to support our process:
  • Make sure to come to a complete stop at the Rosemary/Holly Road intersection
  • Ensure your child’s car seat / booster is on the passenger’s side of the car;
  • To buckle in your child, drive up to a safe zone to do so;
  •  Drop-off / pick-up students in grades 4 – 6 (or have accompanied siblings in those
  • grades) on Holly or Rosemary Road and have students transition where the
  • crossing guard resides;
  •  If the line is long, park in the parking lot and use the cross walk to drop / pick-up your child

We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to improve our process.
