FEBRUARY 2025

Keeping in the Loop

Annual Meeting

The 2025 Board of Directors would like to thank everyone who voted in this year's election and to those who attended the annual meeting, despite the bitter cold temperatures! Board members elected at the January 22nd meeting were Jane Keathley, Scott Solak and Nancy Trudel. Each were voted in for 2-year terms.

The Board looks forward to the opportunities and challenges of serving the residents of Forest Lakes, as well as with our Community Group site management team. We encourage all residents to be active in the community and with the Board. Contact a Board member or the FLCA office with any suggestions or concerns. Your support and ideas are always welcome. Please know all financial information and budgets are available on our website under password protected information. If you need the password, please call the FLCA office (434/973.4596).

The Board will continue to keep Forest Lakes residents informed, as duly possible, on issues that affect our community. The primary sources of communication are through this newsletter, our website (forestlakes.net) and through our "E-news". If you are not on our E-news list (or know another resident who is not) please go to our website or call the FLCA office to sign up (434/973.4596).

Thank you for your continued support

The Mobile DMV will be at the Pavilion on Thursday, March 27th from 9am - 4pm. Visits will be by appointment only - appointment registration will not be available until the beginning of March. To make an appointment (once the appointment calendar goes live) click here. The mobile DMV does everything except testing. To see the list of services, click HERE.

Resident Reminders

  • The holidays are over folks - for you stragglers, please take your decorations down!
  • If you're using a tarp in your backyard to cover something, opt for a brown one instead of blue, white, or clear. Brown tarps blend better with the natural surroundings and create a more visually appealing look.
  • Spring is coming - many of your houses need to be power washed. Please take a look at yours and make an appointment now to get your house looking clean for spring!

Thank you for helping keep our neighborhood looking its best!

Archer North Update

The work regarding Archer North should remain contained onsite through the month of February with little or no disruption to FL residents. Sometime in March, utilities (water, storm and sewer) will begin to be tied into Ashwood Blvd. This will be more noticeable to residents driving by.

Work will begin on the south side of Ashwood Blvd soon to make the connection of Archer North to Brookhill, which will cross over Ashwood Blvd. Albemarle County is requiring the builder to make this connection. Click HERE for what the extention road will look like.

TENNIS AND PICKLEBALL NEWS

Hello Forest Lakes!

February is a big month for us as we prepare for the spring season! Looking forward to seeing everyone on the courts and out and about!

  • February 24-27: Tentative week to lay clay

We will send out periodic reminders for everything as we come closer!

Court Bookings

  • Now that we are all open at South, please be sure to book your court and also CANCEL your court if you are not playing. Please try to cancel 24 hrs in advance so others can see what is open. If you need help, again, I am here to help. Just call, email, or text me. North courts are still closed. We do not plan to open them until we open for the spring.
  • Please dispose of ALL garbage and pick up all of your stuff before you leave.

Forest Lakes Playmate Ball Machine Club (NEW)

  • Residents can join the Ball machine club for 1 year for only $125 or buy a 3-year for $300. Those members will have unlimited use. There will also be a per use fee of $10/hr.
  • I will set a date for a demo day for the Rep to come and show us. Everyone should come and try it! It is super fun! Stay tuned for the date as I confirm things with the Rep.
  • iSMASH, Playmate Smash, Chameleon Series - PLAYMATE Tennis
  • iGENIE, Genie Ball Machine, Commercial, Portable - PLAYMATE Tennis
  • Stay tuned for further logistics, but please let me know if this is of any interest!!!! I would love to get the Genie, but the Smash is certainly a good machine.

NOW HIRING

  • I will be hiring for spring junior clinics, summer clinics, mini-camp counselors, and maintenance this month. I will be in contact with those from last season to get your availability as well. Please email me if you are interested in coming to interview. I want to hear from the actual applicant and not the parent. Minimum age is 15.

UVA Tennis!

Special Pro Shop Sale (Feb only)

  • Special pricing for all stringing is $20 (string plus labor). Come see me and I will get your racquet done. It is always good to start fresh. Racquets lose tension and playability even if they are sitting. Be sure not to store your racquet in your car or garage. Should be kept at room temp or under your pillow. LOL
  • Buy a 5 pack or a 10 pack of stringing service (string plus labor). Inquire with Rob. If you have a family of tennis players, this can help cut down your cost.
  • Labor only package 5 for $50 or 10 for $100. This package is for those who supply their own string.

Serve it Up!
