  • Still haven't updated your Membersplash account from last summer? You'll need to do this if you want to use the pools. Updates include adding or deleting residents in your household, updating pictures of young children, and update those swimmers who are rising 6th graders to "Independent Swimmer". Once this is done (if indeed you had some updates) then agree to the 2025 Pool Rules. This tells us you've updated your account and the FLCA office staff will, in turn, approve your submission as long as it matches our records we have on file. Please pay no attention "unpaid" or "waitlist" on your account. New to Forest Lakes? You'll need to create an account. For Memberspash directions and link, click HERE

Invasive Plants – Help Wanted

The resident invasive plants group hosted a site visit from the local Blue Ridge PRISM (Partnership for Regional Invasive Species Management) in May and recently received their suggested management plan. We have numerous invasives in Forest Lakes, but some of the major ones threatening our forests are Oriental Bittersweet and Japanese Honeysuckle vines, Autumn Olive shrubs, and Japanese Stiltgrass. We were also alerted to a number of invasives that homeowners and the HOA have planted, such as Nandina. We can use additional volunteers to protect our trees and forests. If interested, please contact John Oliver at johndoliver@comcast.net. Thanks.

Invasive of the Month: English Ivy – this vine is gaining a foothold in Forest Lakes, including in some resident yards. It smothers the forest floor, preventing native sapling and plant growth, and will bring down large trees. Here’s more information, including how to control.  See picture of English Ivy at right.

Top Dog of the Month

Sweetie Pie

9 year-old rescue, mostly bluetick hound

Proud resident of Steeplechase

If you haven't seen Sweetie Pie on the trails in Forest Lakes, perhaps you have heard her! Sweetie Pie loves to walk and....howl! What a friendly and joyful howl she has!

Howling is her "outside" sign of excitement. Inside, she does a "sit and spin" - when she's exited about something, she'll sit on the floor and spin around on her derrier!

Say hi to Sweetie Pie if you see or hear her - she's a sweetie pie for sure!
