Forest Lakes Community Newsletter

MARCH 2025

Keeping in the Loop

Spring -It's Around the Corner!

At 5:01am on March 20th to be exact! With warmer days ahead and more residents enjoying the outdoors, please remember to drive safely through our community.  Runners, please remember to wear reflective clothing when running early mornings, at dusk and after the sun has set. It's easy for you to see a car, but not so much for the car to see you! Bikers and scooter riders, please remember that walkers have the right of way on the paths (parents, this is a great time to talk to your child about this).

Remember to Spring Forward this weekend - set those clocks ahead an hour!

Now is a great time to plan your springtime outdoor projects. If you are thinking about making changes to the exterior of your home, keep in mind that many changes need to be approved by the Architectural Review Board. More information and request forms are available on our website at www.forestlakes.net or can be picked up at the association office. Check to see if your project needs approval before you start! If you have any questions, please call the office.

The FLCA office routinely makes neighborhood inspections. Please make sure all yard toys are picked up each evening, no boats or trailers, or work vans are parked in your driveway or street; trash toters are taken off the street after collection, and your yard and house are in good appearance. A complete list of rules and regulations can be found on our website. Please help to keep Forest Lakes a beautiful community in which to live.

SOUTH COURTS - RENOVATIONS IN APRIL

All four south tennis/pickleball courts will be crack-repaired and resurfaced in late April. Courts 3 & 4 will be made into 6 permanent pickleball courts with permanent pickleball nets. Project dates and duration are hoped to be finalized by next month's newsletter.

Trucks, Vans, and Trailers.......

Did you know that per the Forest Lakes Resident Rules and Regulations, oversized vans, oversized trucks and trailers of any type are not allowed on streets or residential property? What's more, in 2020 the Albemarle County Board Of Supervisors adopted a residential parking ordinance that restricts commercial and recreational vehicles, including trailers, from parking on residential streets. (Sect. 9.02 of the County Code). We ask that all Forest Lakes residents be mindful of this and abide accordingly. Thank you!

FOREST LAKES SWIM TEAM

SEASON 35!

The Forest Lakes Swim Team Board is busy preparing for its 35th season and we are grateful for the continued support of the community. The team provides Forest Lakes families with an environment to build swimming skills and friendships.

At this time we are seeking sponsors and donated funds to put towards refreshing equipment (starting blocks, timing instruments, kickboards etc.) so that we can continue to keep registration fees competitive. Local businesses have the option of four levels of advertising sponsorship with logos displayed on t-shirts, home meet signage and heat sheets.

If you would like to discuss sponsorship or make a personal donation to this momentous 35th season, please contact flstchairman@gmail.com

Families can keep up with us on Facebook, GroupMe, or our website. Registration links will be posted in these locations in April.

Directories - They're here!

If you'd like a copy of the 2025 Forest Lakes Directory, please stop by the Forest Lakes office and pick one up. We're here Mon-Fri, 9-5.

SOUTH ENTRANCE/ARCHER NORTH UPDATE

The developer is still actively installing utilities and performing site work on the North Side of Ashwood with the goal of being substantially complete around early May. They most likely will not start any work on Ashwood Blvd until April, so Forest Lakes residents shouldn’t be affected this month with any lane closures.

The connector road into Brookhill has been logged. Work will likely resume again on the South side of Ashwood in April to co-incide with the work on the north side of Ashwood Blvd.
