National Forest Products Week: October 19-25

Get your students involved!

Wisconsin has a rich forest-based heritage — forests are central to how Wisconsinites work and play. During October, Wisconsin leaders are joining together to celebrate Forest Products Week and the many opportunities we enjoy because of our forests’ abundance.

During Forest Products Week, held this year on October 19-25, a variety of Wisconsin organizations will be opening their doors for high school students to explore how forests and forest products create financial, recreational, and environmental opportunities. Events throughout Wisconsin will give high school students a chance to learn how trees are made into paper, doors, cabinetry, and even the Bucks’ basketball court, and how world-class forest management makes it all possible.

Visit the Forest Products Week 2025 website to see all available opportunities. Click on the calendar tabs to explore what each day has to offer. Be sure to look at the requirements before registering students, as there are age restrictions and limits on the number of people allowed on each tour. If transportation funding limits your ability to attend one of these events with students, please reach out to Gretchen at gmarshal@uwsp.edu. Transportation scholarships may be available.

Classroom activities for all grades

If you aren’t a high school educator or you aren't able to join one of the tours, consider using one of the lessons available for K-12 students that can be done in your classroom or a local school forest. Send us a note or picture of how you incorporated Forest Products Week into your classroom!
