The Association has initiated a multi-prong approach in response to the devastation created by Hurricane Michael. We are working with state and federal policymakers and regulators, neighboring forestry associations and, of course, our members, to develop and implement the best courses of action for an effective and efficient recovery.
This week the Association and the Florida Forest Service partnered to host the Hurricane Salvage Task Force meeting in Marianna, FL. More than 40 people gathered on Wednesday to
explore innovative solutions to maximize the timber salvage effort and also to identify its most pressing obstacles.
The Association also participated in listening sessions with Commissioner of Agriculture Adam H. Putnam in Blountstown and Marianna on Tuesday and Thursday respectively.
The University of Florida/IFAS has updated its guide to assessing and managing hurricane-damaged timberlands.

The United States Forest Service has also provided information on calculating timber casualty losses for income tax purposes.
