Forever Etched in My Heart: Ditto's Story

This is Ditto, a student from India, who received a scholarship grants from Save One Life to pursue his MBA. Recently, he sent us an update sharing his success. We are proud to highlight the academic and professional achievements of Ditto, who recently completed a Master of Business Administration from St. Berchmans College in June 2024. This marks a significant milestone in his educational journey, made possible in part by the support of the Save One Life.

Following his graduation, Ditto achieved his professional goal by securing a position in the Human Resources department at Kinder Multispeciality Hospital, Kochi. Ditto attributes much of his academic and professional success to the financial assistance provided by Save One Life. This support alleviated significant economic stress, allowing him to focus entirely on his studies and career development. Growing up with hemophilia presented unique challenges, but with the unwavering support of the Hemophilia Society Angamaly and SOL, Ditto found not only financial relief but also emotional encouragement. Their belief in his potential instilled in him the resilience and determination necessary to thrive despite his condition.

Ditto extends his heartfelt thanks to the SOL Team, Hemophilia Society Angamaly, and all those who contributed to his growth. He stands today as a testament to the transformative power of collective support—resilient, driven, and committed to making a meaningful impact in the healthcare sector.

"Your support has been instrumental in shaping me into the person I am today - resilient, determined, and passionate about making a difference. Thank you for believing in me, for being my rock, and for helping me achieve my dreams. Your impact on my life will forever be etched in my heart.”

It Takes a Village: Get to Know our Board of Directors!

At Save One Life we have a dedicated board of directors who have helped to nurture and grow the organization's mission. As the saying goes, it takes a village. We would like you to meet the village behind Save One Life.

This month we are featuring Marelle Hart.

Introducing Marelle Hart

Marelle Hart has served on our board for three years, having volunteered as the European Liaison for Save One Life for the past nine years. Marelle describes herself as “a real charity person.” She works to promote Save One Life in Europe by reaching out to national hemophilia associations, maintaining relationships with the EHC and EAHAD, establishing contact with European pharma, initiating charity events and more! Marelle’s latest initiative has been creating a team of volunteer European ambassadors to help her represent Save One Life.

Marelle was raised in the Netherlands and California. She studied Cultural Anthropology and International Communication at the University of Amsterdam. After her graduation, Marelle found a job at Doctors without Borders as a project assistant. Although she worked at the headquarters in Amsterdam, she was sent into the field many times. Marelle had the opportunity to visit many countries such as Sudan, Ethiopia, Uganda, Liberia, Ivory Coast, South-Africa, Brazil, China, and more. She recollected her experience: “I have been walking with child soldiers in war zones and among Indian populations in the midst of the rainforest. All those trips opened my eyes as to the challenges in the world.”

Marelle now lives in Germany with her husband. Marelle has two sons, ages 18 and 20, who both have hemophilia B and are currently studying at the University of Leiden. Marelle learned about Save One Life through Facebook support groups. After learning about our mission, she spontaneously reached out to see if Save One Life wanted a representative in Europe. She shares, “with former work experience in developing countries and as a mother of two sons with hemophilia B, I thought I should combine my professional and private experience.” Now, Marelle has been our feet on the ground in Europe for the past nine years, and has been enthusiastic ever since!

Marelle and her beautiful family

Some of Marelle’s favorite memories with Save One Life are participating in Wheels for the World with her husband, where they ride along the beautiful Moselle river. She also has many good memories attending charity events to raise money for Save One Life, including “the International Bazaar in Luxembourg-city and at the European schools which my sons attended.” Another highlight for Marelle is getting to dance with other hemophilia patients at the European conferences, in which she represents us at. She explains “people from Eastern Europe often have bad joints due to lack of medicine in their youth, but they are keen to participate at such conferences.” It moves her to see all people, regardless of ability, coming together to dance.

This October, Marelle will be representing Save One Life at EHC in Vienna!
