Transformative Clinical Outcomes Study
Earlier this month, we announced and released transformative results from a Clinical Outcomes Research Study conducted by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, which aimed to determine whether our intensive outpatient treatment impacted medical services utilization and overall health of our clients.

The study, which included 70 patients, found that over a 12-month period post initial engagement in our intensive outpatient program, participants had significantly fewer all-cause hospital admissions, significantly shorter inpatient lengths of stay, as well as significant reduction in Emergency Department utilization.

Key outcomes from this research include the following for the 12 month period after initial engagement:
These research results suggest that the Forge Care Model serves as an effective and achievable population health strategy to improve care quality and overall patient wellbeing, while reducing costs.

Why else is this study important?
  • The results from this groundbreaking study suggest that addressing underlying mental health and substance use issues through a ‘whole person’ model is a critical key to improving an individual’s overall health.
  • This data will set a new standard for how key stakeholders in the healthcare industry think about mental health and substance use in the context of overall health.
  • Forge Health is now the only behavioral health company to have this scope of clinical outcomes validated by a third-party payer’s claims data.
  • The 70 participants in this study included 29 individuals who left care early against treatment advice, which shows that you make an incredible positive impact in our clients’ lives each moment you spend with them.

The experience we deliver in our clinics or via teletherapy, the strength and quality of our clinical programming, and the primary reason for our current and future success is all because of YOU. We have never been prouder and more honored to be your partner.
Employee Highlight
Jerry Wiffler
This year, Forge has been working with the NYPD and NYFD to offer our support in the wake of the tragic passing of FDNY Fireman Timothy Klein, NYPD Detective Jason Rivera, and NYPD Detective Wilbert Mora. In doing so, we've delivered 70 pizzas to the departments impacted to provide sustenance and comfort. Jerry Wiffler, one of our fantastic Veteran and First Responder Engagement Coordinators, has been helping in organizing and going on site to each department for the pizza deliveries to connect with each one of our front line members.

We are so appreciative of Jerry's presence and dedication to ensuring that not only he, but our organization as a whole, can do our part to be a source of comfort during these immensely difficult times.
In response to the line of duty death of Fireman Timothy Klein, Forge sent (20) pizzas to the fire houses - Battalion 58, Engine 257, Ladder 170.
In response to the line of duty deaths of Detectives Mora and Rivera, Forge sent (50) pizzas to the 32nd precinct.
#Cards2Connect - Holiday Cards for Veterans Challenge
Earlier this month, Dalton participated in an amazing event, led by Dr. Laura Landerman Garber, through her incredible organization: The Holiday Card Challenge.

The primary goal of the Holiday Card Challenge and #Cards2Connect Programs is the collection and delivery of personalized, signed expressions of respect, caring, and gratitude to US Troops, Veterans, and Service Families. Personalized and signed greeting cards and letters sent to our Veterans offer genuine support and caring, respect and appreciation of our military heroes, letting them know that they are not alone during the winter holiday season and now throughout the year.
Our Manchester team participates in this initiative each May.
This year, we are excited to participate company-wide!

A few logistics on how this will go:

  1. Each office will be provided with a budget to order supplies (markers, papers, etc.) in order to create and design the cards.
  2. Throughout the month, please find time with your teams to make and sign these holiday cards. We encourage you to incorporate your clients, team members, external partners - the more the merrier!
  3. At the end of the month, all cards will be sent to our Manchester office in order to get them in the hands of the wonderful folks at The Holiday Card Challenge.
  4. Though this is a collective initiative that we can all do together, to create an incentive for participation, the office with the most participation will receive a pizza party!
  • (West Orange/Paramus & Manchester/Mass will be counted together since we are just getting our brilliant staff up and running in West Orange & Mass.)
For those who are fully remote, I will contact you individually as to where/how you can send cards/participate. If you have any questions at all, please let me know. We are excited to give back to our Veterans through this wonderful initiative!
Forge- First H.E.L.P National Police Week Collaboration
In honor of this year's National Police Week Celebration, Forge Health is partnering with First H.E.L.P., an organization that works to reduce mental health stigma through education, advocate for benefits for those suffering from post-traumatic stress, acknowledge the service and sacrifice of first responders we lost to suicide, support families after a suicide and bring awareness to suicide and mental health issues.

Through this partnership, Forge Health will be sponsoring two survivor of suicide police families to attend memorial ceremonies. First H.E.L.P. has cobranded our organization for the event, titled 'Honor Them'. See pictures of the event's apparel to the right.
Who Dunnit?
This past weekend, our Greensburg team participated in a local community event titled: Who Dunnit? What's that, you ask? Imagine a cross between the game of Clue and The Amazing Race. The event begins and ends at St. Clair Park where participants obtained an information packet including an event map with participating clue locations. The team to successfully solve the mystery of who dunnit in the shortest time will win a cash prize, and all proceeds benefitted the Westmoreland Community Action, a 501(c)3 nonprofit.

Our Greensburg facility was the second crime scene of the event. The setting was 1975. The character at their location was none other than Sigmund Freud. Freud was the therapist for the murder victim, JR, and his wife, Belladonna.

See pictures below of the haunting event!
Tech Tip!
Welcome back to your newest recurring section – Monthly Tech Tips! Is the new seasons sun hurting your eyes? This month’s Tech Tip may help with your screen giving you eye-strain and headaches – introducing Windows Dark Mode and Night Light settings.

  • Dark Mode - Under Settings > Personalization > Color, you can select "dark" as the default Windows and/or app mode. This turns your bright white screen a little darker, making most of your Windows apps and features show white text against a black or gray background. You can play around with using this at different times of the day, to see what works for you.

  • Night Light - Now that we're all on video calls for most of the day, you may notice that when sitting straight in front of your huge monitor, all that white light shining on your face makes you look over-exposed. Just go to Settings > System > Display and turn on "Night Light". Night Light, a “blue light filter,” is intended to make your display use warmer colors at night to help you sleep better and reduce eyestrain.

You can always reach out to the Forge Support Team by using this form (preferred method) or by emailing [email protected]. Let us know your favorite shortcuts or what tech tips you may want in the future!

We're back with our Pop Culture Corner! Janae Lane, one of our Clinicians in West Orange, is an avid reader and reads a book a month! See below for a few of her reads from this year:

"The Upstander: How Surviving the Holocaust Sparked Max Glauben's Mission to Dismantle Hate"
by Jori Epstein

I'm currently reading the story of Max Glauben, a Holocaust survivor who passed away last week at the age of 94. He dedicated his life to telling his story, and the story of millions of those who never got the chance to tell their own story. Max’s goal was to try to impact people’s attitudes and change their behavior on the Holocaust.

Thanks as always!
