This past weekend saw the opening of our newest exhibit in the pottery studio, S*H*E* Project by Anda Stelian, as well as the first of three performances in our Storytelling Series. The storytelling was wonderful- a testament to the hard work of coordinator Anna Mueser. The next one is on Saturday, August 6th, at 7 PM and is, again, free to the community. Let's breathe new life into the smithy
The Smithy is pleased to announce the first and soon-to-be annual "Forging A Future For the Arts Auction". Items for bid range from a boat cruise/cocktail party on Lake Otsego, tickets to a Chamber Music Festival concert, Cooperstown Film Festival passes... all the way to truckloads of manure, paintings and pottery, acting and candle-making classes! There will be a wide range of art and experiences that will appeal to everyone. The event begins as a silent auction with items on view in the gallery beginning Thursday, July 21st at 5 PM. It will culminate on Saturday, July 30th at 5 PM with a reception and live auction hosted by Don Raddatz. There will also be a catered Indian dinner buffet available for $15 at 6 PM and a Patti Van Tassel concert of showtunes at 7 PM. Auction attendees receive a 50% discount on the concert ticket price. All proceeds to benefit The Smithy in our mission to make the arts accessible to the community and keep growing all the new programs and events you love! Please help us as we forge our future!

Melinda Hall
Renowned NYC Shakespearean acting coach Melinda Hall joins us for a weekend of workshops & performances from A Midsummer Night's Dream. From monologues to scene work to cold reading technique, this program is an incredible crash course in Shakespearean acting with classes for all ages and stages of experience. The weekend culminates in a live free performance in The Smithy's lovely courtyard on our new stage. Schedule to be announced July 26th- be on the lookout!
