Forgive my Unbelief
If you are familiar with this verse, you know that it is found in Mark 9: 14-29. The story is the healing by Jesus of the demon possessed boy. You also know that as you read the passage the young boy’s father asks Jesus to have mercy on them and help us “if you can”? (If you haven’t read it take a few minutes to make it your devotion time tomorrow.)
I have shared more than once the fact that I like to see action. Any project that I start I like to see progress. Even if it is just a little, I like to know that something is happening.
I cannot begin to tell you how many times this has been a real problem for me in my spiritual walk. I pray probably more for this flaw in my personality than any other. My prayer is always “God, forgive my unbelief!”
God is always working. God is always answering prayers. The key issue here is that they are not always answered in the way that I have in my mind I would like to see them answered. I will always remember a conversation that I heard several years ago among a mother and daughter in the church that we were attending at the time. The daughter was speaking from a heart full of grief when she said, “I prayed that Daddy would be healed, and God chose not to heal him.” The mother very calmly looked at her daughter and said, “Your Dad was healed just not in the way that you wanted it done”.
As I think about the things that I would like to see happen right now in Women’s Ministries I realize that God has already got them. He is already working and in His due time we will see that result as all things work according to His will.
My favorite song is Way Maker. Part of the lyrics are as follows:
You are way maker, miracle worker, promise keeper, light in the darkness.
My God that is who you are.
Even when I don’t see it, you’re working.
Even when I don’t feel it, you’re working!
You never stop you never stop working!
God's number one desire from us is a relationship and along with that relationship should come faith. The faith to know that He has got this.
Be obedient to what He is calling you to do. Stay true to the course.
