Notice of extension of public comment period for SB 54 Plastic Pollution Prevention and Packaging Producer Responsibility Act Regulations to May 8, 2024

The Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) has begun formal rulemaking activities regarding the SB 54 Plastic Pollution Prevention and Packaging Producer Responsibility Act regulations. The Notice of Proposed Action (Notice) was published by the Office of Administrative Law on March 8, 2024, and the public comment period began on March 8, 2024. CalRecycle will also hold a hybrid public hearing regarding this rulemaking on April 23, 2024. CalRecycle is extending the public comment period, and the public comment period will now end on May 8, 2024.

Additionally, our President and CEO Rachel Michelin is on the Advisory Board and will be providing feedback on the regs during two scheduled board meetings ahead of the formal comment period deadline.
