Congratulations to The Honourable Justice Ryan D. Anderson former Law Society of Alberta President, who has been appointed as a Justice of the Alberta Court of Justice, effective May 1, 2025.

Justice Anderson joined the Law Society Board in 2018 and began his term as President in February 2025. He was previously a Partner at Huckvale LLP in Lethbridge, where his practice consisted of agricultural transactions and finance, wills and estates, and family law disputes, including work as a mediator. We thank Justice Anderson for his time, commitment and dedication.

We would like to announce that the 2025-26 President-Elect, Stacy Petriuk, KC, is now the President of the Law Society of Alberta, effective immediately. 

“Our heartfelt congratulations to Ryan. We will miss him around the Bencher table and as President, but the citizens of Alberta are very fortunate to have him as a member of the judiciary. We know he will tackle his new role with the high level of integrity, thoughtfulness, commitment and work ethic that he demonstrated practising law and serving as a Bencher and President of the Law Society of Alberta,” says Stacy Petriuk, KC.

The Board will vote in an election for the 2025-26 President-Elect on May 7, 2025.
