Catching Up with the County Clerk

As we step into the heart of summer, I hope this season brings you time to rest, reconnect, and enjoy all that makes Fort Bend County such a great place to call home.

We’re looking ahead to a busy and exciting third quarter. With the new school year right around the corner, my office is here to support families getting ready for back-to-school season. Whether you need certified documents for enrollment or identification, we’re here to help make the process as smooth as possible.

To better serve working families, I'm offering special weekend hours for birth certificates on Saturday, July 19, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at our Travis Building location in Richmond. If you need a certified copy of a birth certificate before school starts, this is a great opportunity to skip the weekday rush.

As we celebrate Independence Day, I want to take a moment to wish everyone a safe and joyful 4th of July. It’s also a time to remember and honor those who have served our country. Through our More Than Words - Thank a Veteran program, my office continues to proudly offer dedicated services to veterans, including free recordings of military discharge documents and easy access to certified copies. It's one of the many ways we show our gratitude and support to those who have served.

Thank you for allowing us to serve you, Fort Bend County. We look forward to continuing to provide efficient, respectful, and transparent service throughout the summer and beyond.

Sincerly,

Laura Richard,

Fort Bend County Clerk

Service Spotlight - More Than Words

The Fort Bend County Clerk’s Office is proud to honor those who have served through the More Than Words, Thank-A-Veteran program—because gratitude should be more than words. This initiative offers local veterans a complimentary photo ID card when registering their discharge paperwork with the County Clerk that can be used to access discounts at participating businesses countywide. It’s a small token of appreciation with a big impact, connecting our community and recognizing the sacrifices made by those in uniform.

Looking Back

Join us in taking a look back to the first quarter and everything the County Clerk's office has accomplished with new services, events, and community engagement.

Fort Bend County Clerk staff from the Official Public Records and Courts Divisions wore blue to show support for Autism Awareness Month on April 2, 2025.

The County Clerk's office kicked-off their first special birth certificate weekend hours of 2025 at the Katy Annex location in April. Staff were available to print birth certificates from 9AM to Noon.

Fort Bend County Clerk Laura Richard had the privilege of speaking at the Rotary Club of Rosenberg to share important information about the many services offered in the County Clerk's office, including the Property Fraud Alert program on April 7, 2025.

Special thanks to the Rotary Club of Rosenberg for hosting the event!

On May 15, 2025, Fort Bend County Clerk Laura Richard proudly joined fellow elected officials at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Sugar Land Galaxy All Abilities Park!

This inclusive park is a big step forward in making sure every child and family—regardless of ability—can enjoy safe, accessible, and fun outdoor spaces.

In May the County Clerk's office proudly celebrated National Police Week, a time to recognize the courage, dedication, and sacrifice of law enforcement officers across the country.

Clerk Richard was especially honored to shine a spotlight on Deputy Freeze, who serves with distinction alongside the Fort Bend County Clerk’s Office. Deputy Freeze goes above and beyond to ensure the safety of our staff and the public every day. Their professionalism, compassion, and commitment to service exemplify the very best of law enforcement.

Thank you, Deputy Freeze, for your unwavering support and dedication to our community. Your work does not go unnoticed!

Fort Bend County Clerk Laura Richard had the honor of attending the Memorial Day Ceremony held in May beside the historic courthouse, a heartfelt event dedicated to honoring, remembering, and celebrating the brave veterans who have served our nation — both here in Fort Bend County and across the country.

This solemn gathering was a powerful reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment of our servicemen and women. It is through their dedication that we enjoy the freedoms we hold dear.

On May 29, 2025, the Fort Bend County Clerk’s Office celebrated a ribbon cutting ceremony at the All American Basketball Camp in Rosenberg, Texas.

This new facility represents a valuable addition to our community, offering young athletes a place to develop their skills, discipline, and leadership both on and off the court. We commend Coach Williams and his family-led team at All American Basketball Camp for their commitment to youth development and community engagement.

County Clerk Laura Richard had a fabulous day celebrating Rosenberg-Richmond Helping Hands’ 40th Anniversary at their Feast on Fashion fundraiser to support this amazing organization that has been serving our community for four decades with heart and dedication.

The event featured a lovely boutique-style showcase, with area merchants displaying beautiful merchandise—and the fashion show was a true highlight!

Special shoutout to Karis Duncan from Commissioner Andy Meyer's office, who modeled on behalf of table 7, where Clerk Richard was seated. "She did a spectacular job representing us and showing off just how stylish the donated clothing available to RRHH clients can be!"

Cheers to 40 years of making a difference, Rosenberg-Richmond Helping Hands! Here's to many more.
