The Fort Bend Education Foundation's Chief Executive Officer Brenna Cosby has retired after 25 years of exemplary leadership. Her last day was May 20.

Brenna is known as a prominent leader throughout Fort Bend ISD, a pillar of the Fort Bend community and a champion fundraiser, who thrived on forming positive partnerships to support student learning.

During her tenure, the Foundation's annual fundraising campaign grew from $125,000 to $1.4 million. More than $35 million was raised for schools and teachers. Expansion of the Auxiliary Committee grew to more than 500 volunteers. Fort Bend ISD's Coding and Robotics Clubs increased from two to 65; and the Foundation staff grew from one person to an eight-member team.

To honor her legacy, the FBEF Board of Directors has named a grant award in her name - "The Brenna Cosby Innovation Award."

Delicia Arnic used her teacher grant to make learning fun for her third graders at Bhuchar Elementary! She purchased educational games that reinforce math concepts (such as place value, measurement and fractions) taught in the curriculum. The games allow students on all levels to engage with their peers in a fun way. As the students rotate between workstations, they are building essential math, communication and problem-solving skills through hands-on learning. 

Don't Disturb this Groove

Students at Hunters Glen Elementary are better able to focus on assessments thanks to 4th grade teachers Rachel Semien-Monroe and Dekari Courtney. With their team grant, they purchased headphones with microphones for students. The headphones help minimize external noise infiltration when students are completing reading assessments. The teachers can administer the reading fluency assessment with up to 10 students in a setting without feedback interference.

I Like to Move It, Move It!

Oakland Elementary School music teacher Beth Duhon received a grant to support music experiences for students. Her grant funded wrist bells, rhythm sticks, giant stretchy bands, scarves, books, bean bags and other props for students to use during musical performances. The entire 5th grade gave an inspiring Veterans Day performance to the beat of "Stars and Stripes Forever" using the red, white and blue scarves, while demonstrating precise movements and patriotism!
