Council adopts Fiscal Year 2023-24 Tentative Budget

The Sierra Vista City Council adopted the Fiscal Year 2023-24 Tentative Budget at its regular meeting on Thursday.

The tentative budget adoption effectively caps the upcoming Fiscal Year 2023/24 budget at $175,145,445. This means changes may be made within that spending limit prior to adoption of the final budget on Thursday, July 27, but the total amount cannot be increased. The new fiscal year begins on July 1.

In addition to approval of the final budget, a public hearing on the proposed Fiscal Year 2023-24 Property Tax Levy will be held on July 27. Then the City Council will vote on a resolution to adopt the levy on Thursday, Aug. 10.

In other business the City Council:
  • Approved the Fiscal Year 2024 - Fiscal Year 2025 Strategic Plan.
  • Moved forward amendments to Chapter 94 of the City Ordinance for a 30-day public comment period. The amendments designate specific operating hours for several sports complexes and facilities to better serve the public and mitigate safety concerns.
