Message to Our Membership

Dear Members,
While we and our families have been working through a year of unprecedented challenges, the Scarsdale Forum continues to engage in community dialogue to help ease our collective stress and effect positive change. So while working on Village budget, sustainability and climate change issues, we helped organizers spread the word about the vigil to memorialize victims of the racially motivated shootings in Atlanta, and demonstrate the community's solidarity with Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, and other victims of hate.
It's more than a month away, but we are actively planning to conduct our ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING on Thursday, May 20 at 8:00 pm -- via Zoom. Officers, At-Large Directors, and Nominating Committee members will be elected, so all members are highly encouraged to attend.
There will be several votes on the agenda, including timely and interesting reports, and our annual vote for next year's Vice President (who will automatically become President the following year), Treasurer, Secretary and three Directors-at-Large.
All members of the public are welcome, but Forum members will need to be current with their dues to vote. RSVP here
With sincere wishes for the holidays, and hopes for your good health and happiness,
Madelaine Eppenstein

The Education Committee is working with Dr. Edgar McIntosh, the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment and Ann Marie Nee, Director of the Scarsdale Teachers Institute, to develop a joint information session to explore the District's current curriculum offerings and professional learning opportunities related to major topics that have emerged over the last several years. Fiscal Affairs
The Committee is preparing a Report on budget issues facing the community following the challenges of the past year. The Village’s tentative budget for the fiscal year ending May 31, 2022 was filed with the Village Clerk on March 19, 2021. A hearing on the tentative budget is scheduled for April 13, 2021 to consider public comments and suggestions. The Board will respond to comments and suggestions from the public and vote on the budget on April 27, 2021. Please contact Chair Anne Hintermeister, ahintermeister@gmail.com.

Municipal Services
As discussed at its last meeting, attended by members of the Village Board, the Committee anticipates the new Village Board will be engaging the community on the critically important subject of traffic safety and exploring implementation of complete streets policy and design, and safe routes to schools recommendations. Please contact Chair Madelaine Eppenstein, meppenstein@eppenstein.com.
