Dear Parents and Guardians of Fossil Ridge High School Students:
The start of the new school year is rapidly approaching. School begins on Tuesday, August 15th. We are excited to have your student return to Fossil Ridge High School. We want the transition from summer vacation to the start of school to be as smooth as possible. We have always maintained a high standard of dress and grooming at Fossil Ridge High School. Taken by itself, this policy may seem unimportant or irrelevant to the school environment as a whole. But interwoven with other policies and procedures, it is what makes the learning environment at Fossil Ridge exceptional. Please keep the following in mind as you shop for back-to-school items:
Piercings are only allowed in the ears
Gauges in the ears are acceptable as long as they are no larger than a #2 pencil eraser
Any offensive tattoos must be covered
Hair must be a natural hair color. (Examples - red, pink, purple, green or blue hair is not acceptable
Visible streaks of colored hair (red, blue, green, pink, purple, etc.) are not acceptable
Shorts and skirts must reach mid-thigh
Tank tops are not allowed unless a shirt is worn underneath
Leggings and yoga pants are acceptable as long as the shorts, skirt or blouse that covers them reaches mid-thigh
Sagging is unacceptable and is not tolerated at FRHS
Spandex shorts and skirts are unacceptable
Shoulders should be covered (the width of a student ID card)
All hats are prohibited
KISD policy allows administrative discretion to decide whether an item is appropriate
Below is a document showing acceptable and unacceptable dress code standards. A quick glance at the document should answer most questions you may have related to the dress code. Thank you for your help with these dress code standards. We appreciate all that you do to insure that your student is dressed and groomed appropriately.
