The month of May is National Foster Care Awareness Month and at CASA, one our biggest missions is to advocate for those who have been placed in foster care. Foster homes were meant to act as a temporary home/support system that is established with the overall goal to reunify families together once they are stable.
The overall impact foster care can have on a child or teenager varies. Thats why it's vital for us a CASA Volunteers, in collaboration with DFCS and local community members to speak out when you notice something abnormal in the child's behavior, actions or daily activities to be sure that they are properly cared for and that they are able to thrive in their living environments.
Not only is it vital to be an extra pair of eyes, we can use our platforms to become a valuable resource by becoming a CASA or becoming a mentor. Learn more about how you can help today!
