In a waning pandemic year, celebrating Foster Care Month can still pose some challenges! We’ve been hearing some creative and family-friendly ideas from Coordinators about how they will show their very best recruiters–their foster families–how much they are appreciated this month. From drive-thru events to park passes to pizza to contests, agencies around Wisconsin are shifting into high gear to show some love to the families who foster, and who spread the word about fostering.
As we begin to see things opening up we’re hearing about in-person activities being planned, primarily outdoors, so that foster families not only feel appreciated but have an opportunity to connect with each other. Remember this is also an opportunity to include ongoing and other agency staff in becoming involved in your “Treat Them Like Gold” customer service approach to your foster families!
We’d love to hear from you about what your agency is doing for Foster Care Month!
Your agency may see an uptick in your inquiries from prospective foster parents as the Foster a Future
Public Service Announcements (PSAs) are broadcast around Wisconsin for several days during May. You can see all of the PSAs on our website
. You are welcome to use these videos in your online (or face-to-face) recruiting activities. And be sure to check out the new Foster a Future Testimonial videos
, too! We will be releasing more throughout the summer.
