Foster The People - Sunday July 3, 2011 - 6:30pm
Foster the People is an indie rock band that formed in Los Angeles, California, United States in 2009. According to the Pumped Up Kicks Songfacts, the band started off as a solo project for vocalist, guitarist and keyboardist Mark Foster, who had been working as a jingle composer for commercials. As his songs became more grandiose, Foster enlisted Cubbie Fink (bass, vocals) and Mark Pontius (drums). The band released their debut self-titled EP in January 2011. The band's debut full length album, Torches, was released on May 24, 2011 on Star Time/Columbia. Their show that night at The Loft is sold out so unless you have tickets to the show already this will be your only other chance to see them live as they pass through Dallas this time. Pick up a copy of "Torches" while you are here on CD or LP and have the band autograph if for you after their set.
Torches, the highly anticipated debut album by Foster The People, is the soundtrack for an eternal summer. Produced by Paul Epworth , Rich Costey , and Greg Kurstin, Torches delivers on both the promise of their breakthrough chart-topping single Pumped Up Kicks and the promise of this young band out of Los Angeles. "We just want people to feel better about their lives." The sound is universally uplifting combining influences from alternative's greats mixed with songs that make you dance. "Acc essible yet challenging, gleaming yet gritty, pop yet petrifying: Foster The People are a fresh evolution of modern music." - NME
