Our non-profit partner, Manna, recently received approval to assist with remote SNAP enrollment. They can help people complete and submit applications over the phone or via Go To Meeting now! With an increase of people needing to enroll in assistance programs, this service allows them to walk folks through the process while minimizing person-to-person contact. They have 3 certified SNAP outreach partners who can perform this service and they are ready to start making phone appointments.
Social Security recipients will automatically receive the economic impact payment the same way they normally receive their Social Security benefits. See details from IRS at: www.irs.gov/coronavirus
more than ever!
Hello United Way Friends,
I hope you are all doing well as this week in Colorado we are transitioning to "Safer-At-Home." For the most part, we are supposed to continue our safe behaviors and maintain social distancing, with a few new activities permitted. Here is the link to Governor Polis' most recent order in case you would like to review the details.
How are fellow Coloradans doing during this time? I thought I would share a snapshot of the types of needs that the 2-1-1 call centers have been recording over the last week.
Local United Way partners are addressing these needs every day and have stepped up efforts during this time: 68% are as busy or busier than before the crisis. This is true even though 50% have completely closed their facilities. Additionally, many people seeking assistance have never been in a position to need assistance. My hope is that this difficult situation fosters more understanding and empathy between people than ever before.
Thanks for all you do to help out and please enjoy our newsletter!
