The CSG Justice Center recently hosted its second webinar in a series focused on equipping corrections leaders to partner with their state’s Medicaid representatives and other key local and state entities to develop, plan, and implement a Section 1115 demonstration proposal and effective strategies for reentry. State representatives, including corrections leaders, who had already developed 1115 waiver proposals shared their experiences working with their state Medicaid departments to develop 1115 waiver proposals focused on improving prerelease services and care transitions for the reentry population. Panelists discussed key components of reentry services that were included in their states’ demonstration application and outlined concrete strategies they recommended for partnering with state Medicaid agencies on setting up the demonstration and the systems involved for success.
