Faculty coaching opportunities related to advocacy and bias

The College of Dentistry Faculty Development Committee and the Inclusivity Advisory Group recommend getting registered for the following two events:

Advocacy Actions in Leadership: The Missing Rungs

Thurs., Dec. 2 | 12-1 p.m. | Register Now

Join UNMC Faculty Development and the Office of Equity for an important conversation about advocacy actions and their impact on women’s leadership career success.

Guest expert Dr. Carrie Bowler from the Mayo Clinic will share the findings of her recent research examining the lived experiences of the advocacy actions experienced by 12 medical school deans throughout their leadership careers. Ideal for leaders, aspiring leaders, followers, mentors and sponsors, the goal of this session is to help the faculty community consider the advocacy skill-set in practice and the long-term results it can yield.
REframe Series | The Bias Checklist (Part 2)

Thurs., Dec. 9 | 12-1 p.m. | Register Now

This session will serve as a Q & A to facilitate the use of the Inclusive Curriculum Checklist developed by Dr. Amy Caruso Brown. Brenna Childerston
Sterilization Technician

Background: I'm currently applying to the SCC Radiology Program. However, I have loved getting to know the dental industry, so if my radiology path doesn’t work out, I may consider going into the dental field!

Hometown: Born and raised in Lincoln.

My family: I have three sisters and we are very close - they are my built-in best friends.

Favorite things to do on a day off: I love to sleep in and cuddle with my two cats, Moe and Gidget. I usually ‘run errands’ which consists of me getting coffee and shopping.

Three things about me most people don't know: I was born on February 29 so I’m a Leap Day baby and I’m technically five years old. My boyfriend and I have been together for three years. I ran cross country, have ran a half marathon, and might be running a 5k later next month.
