The LAUNCH Fostoria Business Competition Finals were held on August 5 in Market Square Park. All four finalists did a fantastic job and Jena Stearns, Beyond Laser Creations, 2021 LAUNCH Fostoria winner shared her entrepreneurial journey over the past year.  


$11,575 was collected in voting money, all of which went to the finalists. The big winner of the night was Calico Charlie's Candy & More, owned by Matt & Kris Koester.

FEDC & Chamber Podcast - Have you Listened in Yet?

Fostoria Economic Development & Fostoria Area Chamber of Commerce have launched a Podcast, "Shut Up & Listen: Small Town Stories with Sarah & Renee". The podcast features FEDC President, Renee Smith, and Chamber/Small Business Director, Sarah Stephens Krupp, sharing all things Fostoria and inviting special guests to join them in a light hearted conversation.

The podcast can be found on Spotify, Apple and Google. The podcast drops the first and third Wednesday of each month and you can learn more and follow Shut Up & Listen: Small Town Stories on Facebook and Instagram.

Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses (10KSB) Accepting Applications for cohort that starts in January 2023
Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses no-cost program at Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C ®) offers hands-on business education for entrepreneurs. Business owners develop skills to increase revenue, create jobs, improve leadership and establish valuable connections needed to grow a business. There is no cost to participate, the program is funded by the Goldman Sachs Foundation.
 
The results speak for themselves. Reports show that 10KSB graduates across the country see their businesses far exceed national averages in revenue growth and job creation. Positive results usually occur within six months of graduation and business owners gain valuable skills and experiences in our hands-on business education course.  I invite you to take a look at the 10KSB website where the program, schedule, curriculum and alumni success stories can be viewed.

The second Fostoria Farmers' & Artisans' Night Market will take place tonight, Thursday, September 1, from 4-8 p.m. in Market Square Park.

Be sure to join us at Market Square Park at the corner of East Tiffin and South Main Streets on Saturday, September 17th for the final Fostoria Farmers’ & Artisans’ Market of the season. The Fostoria Community Arts Council is sponsoring the “Creative Arts & Crafts” themed market, which will run from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. There are already 45 vendors registered to offer products ranging from produce, fresh cut flowers, baked goods, handmade jewelry, handcrafted wooden and crocheted items, gifts and more.

ProMedica Fostoria Community Hospital Announces Recipients of ROSE & DAISY Awards

ProMedica Fostoria Community Hospital and ProMedica Memorial Hospital are proud to announce the winners of the ROSE and DAISY Awards.

 

The DAISY Award is presented to a deserving nurse to celebrate the extraordinary compassion they provide patients and families every day. The ROSE Award was established in 2020 by ProMedica to recognize outstanding employees in all roles in the hospital. This award celebrates the extraordinary efforts of the non-nursing employees who provide outstanding patient services in any position.


Renee Whitta, cashier at Fostoria Community Hospital, and Gary Williams, patient transporter, Memorial Hospital, are the recipients of the ROSE Award. Christina Stearns RN, Acute Care, Fostoria Community Hospital, and Shannon Howell, RN, Acute Care, Memorial Hospital, are the recipients of the DAISY Award.

to Host Oktoberfest

ProMedica Fostoria Community Hospital Foundation is hosting its signature fundraising event this year themed, Oktoberfest, on Thurs., Oct. 6 at 5:30 p.m. at Stacy’s Place. The event proceeds will be going towards supporting employee wellness initiatives.

 

This year’s Oktoberfest event will offer a grazing dinner and dessert station, celebrity servers, silent auctions and wine grab. The UrbanWoody Brewery will also be providing their hometown brews! The event will be held at Stacy’s Place in Fostoria. Reserved dinner tables and tickets are available, along with sponsorship opportunities.
