It's Electric...at Reineke Ford in Fostoria!

An informational electrical vehicle event will be held at Reineke Ford in Fostoria on December 15th, 2022. This event, hosted in cooperation with the Fostoria Area Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau, aims to educate, demonstrate, and answer any questions around electrical vehicles, in both residential and commercial settings.

“We’re excited to present Ford’s lineup of electrical vehicles, including the all-new, and all-electric, Ford F-150 Lightning,” said Tom Reineke, Reineke Family Dealerships.

The electrical vehicle event at Reineke Ford in Fostoria is free and open to the public. It will take place from 8 am – 10 am on December 15th, 2022 at Reineke Ford (1303 Perrysburg Road) in Fostoria.

Vision 2020 Launches Funding Campaign for Splash Pad

LET’S MAKE A SPLASH FOR FOSTORIA! We have a unique opportunity to demolish the dilapidated swimming pool at City Park along with the bath house, slide, and concession stand and replace them with a Splash Pad – Soak Park. We will utilize the current parking lot and create a family friendly area for our children to play in the water. The advantages to a Splash Pad – Soak Park vs. a swimming pool are: safety (as the surface of the splash pad will be poured rubber vs. concrete), maintenance, manpower (as we will not need lifeguards), a longer season, and upkeep.

Initial cost estimates by Poggemeyer Engineering came in at $550,000 for the Splash Pad. We hope to come in at substantially lower costs by doing a design build concept and doing some of the work ourselves.

The City of Fostoria, with the help of our legislators, was able to get an allocation of $150,000 from the Ohio State Capital budget. The City of Fostoria will allocate $100,000 from next year’s budget towards the project. The Greater Fostoria Community Foundation has also approved a grant of $100,000 IF the citizens of Fostoria contribute two for one raising $200,000 for this project.

Thus, we have our work cut out. We need to raise $200,000 by the end of April 2023. This allows contributions to be spread over two years.

FAVB Seeking Sculpture Exhibit Sponsors

The Fostoria Area Visitor’s Bureau is making plans for Fostoria to be a host community for a Midwest Sculpture Initiative (MSI) exhibit for a sixth year. To participate as a host community, the MSI group asks for a commitment to fund at least eight sculptures for an outdoor exhibit that is in place for approximately one year. Each participating sculptor receives a stipend for loaning their pieces to the exhibit, while MSI charges a project administration and installation fee.

Funding for Fostoria to be a host community for a Midwest Sculpture Initiative exhibit is raised through grants and donations from businesses, organizations, and individuals. No public funds have been used for our participation in bringing the sculpture exhibits to Fostoria or in the purchase of permanent sculptures. Because the Visitor's Bureau needs to make a commitment soon for Fostoria to be a host community for a 2023/2024 exhibit, the Fostoria Area Visitor’s Bureau is seeking financial sponsorship pledges by December 1, 2022.

Donations of any amount are appreciated. Gifts given at the following levels will receive special recognition in all exhibit marketing materials: Platinum - $2,000+, Gold $1,000+, Silver $500+ , Bronze $250+, and Stone $100+. Payment is requested by March 1, 2023.

A sponsorship pledge form is available at http://www.fostoriaohio.org/sculpturepledge/ Completed forms should be mailed to or dropped off to Fostoria Area Visitor’s Bureau office in the Fostoria Learning Center at 342 Perry Street or emailed to Michele Cochran, Community Development/Tourism Director at development@fostoriachamber.com
